Prologue

A large gust of bitter wind tumbles across a monochromatic wasteland. Skeletons of leafless trees cast faded shadows across the stone ground. The moonlight breaks it's way through the thick and dense clouds, splashing cold light on the rough ground below. There is no colour left in this world. All the trees have lost their leaves, grasses and greenery have been burned away, not leaving a trace behind except for their smokey ashes, and the once pure lakes and rivers have dried up into nothing. Even the sky has been drained of its bright shades of blue. Dark storm clouds roar above the empty barren. A low rumble of thunder echoes throughout the sky, and a loud crack booms thereafter as lightning returns the thunder's call. The barren lights up a brilliant white colour, as the lightning strikes a tree nearby. The tree is engulfed by flames as the lightning makes contact with it's branches. The wind begins to screech as rain pours down on the empty barren. Smoke fills the air as the downpour clashes against the burning tree. The flames lick at the tree's empty branches, slowly causing them to wither and fall off, hitting the sodden ground below and turning into ashes. This is my home. Our home. It wasn't supposed to be this way, but it's been like this ever since that.

Ever since the mistake.

They know I have it. That thought kept racing through my mind until the point where I couldn't think of anything else. I was imprisoned in my mind, I couldn't see what was around me, more or less, didn't want to see what was around me. A warm breath brushed on my shoulder, snapping me out of the phase that I was currently in. I turned my head to meet two glowing pink eyes, on the verge of tears.

"They're coming." A small and shaky voice spoke. I wrapped my arms around the small and frail figure beside me, holding it close.

My little brother.

The smallest amount of dim light shone through the steel bars of the cold cell we sat in. The dim light splashed white on the stone floor below, turning it a bright silver. It was just that one corner by the window that had light, the rest of the cellar was lost in thick darkness. I held my little brother close as I tried to shuffle closer to the light for warmth, only to be stopped by a powerful magic force. I jumped back slightly, grasping onto my shoulder that was now burning in agony.

"C-Careful M-Mew...." My younger brother warned quietly. My eyes widened he said-

My name.

It has been for the longest time nobody said my name, I was always called "Mistake" or I was never spoken with. All my friends hated me, knowing I caused the world to go into darkness. I was left alone, with no one. No one but my younger brother. But that was until we were caught.

Caught with the power to change the past.

We've been stuck in this cold cell for months upon months. No warmth or food. No water or care. I dream of watching the sunrise again, to feel its warmth on my fur and skin. But now, there is nothing but darkness. Everyone has given up. They think that there is no way to go back. To go back and change the past. They think that because, they've been forced to. I escaped the darkest time, that time. I think there is a way, I know there is a way. Want to know why I think this? It's because there is a way.

And I have it.

They wanted me dead because of that. And I overheard that they are going to kill me today. If I was dead, I couldn't go back and fix everything. That's what my little brother had said, and I knew he spoke the truth. But what I didn't know until now was that he was going to sacrifice to prevent my death.

Sacrifice himself.

A loud click noise echoes down the long hallway. They're coming. They are here to take me away and kill me. I shiver at the thought of dying and the whole world staying in complete darkness. I snap out of my thoughts as a cold paw touches my shoulder. I turn to look at my brother again.
