Nicky, already knowing who it was, asked, "What did he say?"
Keeley looked at the text and began to read it aloud, "The text says...
•••••
Keeley was lying on her back, hands behind her head on her bedroom floor while Nicky was lying on her belly on Keeley's bed scrolling through her phone. They were having a sleepover.
"I have to ask you something. And as my best friend, you have to be completely honest."Keeley told Nicky seriously.
Nicky, sensing the urgency in Keeley's voice, turned off her phone and put it down on Keeley's bed. She put her head in her hands and looked straight at Keeley.
"Okay, what's wrong?"Nicky raised her eyebrow at Keeley.
Keeley shifted her position and hesitated before saying, "It's about Talon."
"Ohh, I see. You're crushing on him."Nicky wiggled her eyebrows suggestively at Keeley.
"What? No!" Keeley exclaimed. "Well, I don't know, but I can't really have a crush on someone I know nothing about. I haven't even seen him!"
"Ask for a picture."
"No! I can't do that. He'll think I'm interested in him."
"Aren't you?"
"Well, he can't know that. His ego's bigger than Zach's pile of dirty laundry as it is."
Nicky laughed as Keeley giggled along.
"The thing is, I really don't know anything about him besides the fact his name is Talon and he's interested in me."
"Well, you've been texting, haven't you? Don't you at least know where he goes to school because it's obvious he doesn't go to our school. Zach said he doesn't know a football player named Talon, right?"
"Yeah. I know that, but whenever I ask him about it, he just changes the topic or makes an excuse to stop texting. It's like he doesn't want me to know where he goes to school. I just don't understand why."
"Ooh. A mystery romance. This would make the perfect love story!"
"Shut up!"
"But I wonder what his reason is for keeping it secret."
"It must be something bad. What other reason could there be?"
"Maybe where he goes to school will change your opinion of him. And since he wants to get in your pants, he doesn't want you to know."
"Why would the school he goes to change my opinion?"
"He's a football player, right?"
