Drowning them out was easy. But when you heard even a word, you couldn't stop listening and repeating after that.

Mom and Dad never got along anymore. Not like they used to. They fought a lot.

A lot.

I held Violet close. She tugged at my jacket and looked up at me with her palms pressing into her ears to stop the yells. I gave her a sad smile, and put my headphones over her head, helping her get away.

And then I heard them. I sat in the middle of the back, hoping to alert Mom and Dad when they didn't notice something on the road.

They never do. They're too busy fighting and cursing.

But as I looked up from Violet. No one noticed. No one saw. And before I knew it, I launched forwards.

The impact was hard. It hurt and stung and felt awful. But it drowned them out.

Deaths a peaceful thing, you see. It's quiet.

I stared at the sky. I felt my limp body contort in ways I didn't know was possible. My hair grew sticky, my vision became blurry. And before I knew it.

I was gone.

---

He was an amazing brother. He was all I could ever ask for.

But he died because all I wanted was his music. Yet, instead of keeping it for himself, he moved towards me and placed it on my head. The music instantly filled my ears, and I smiled. As he looked away, I saw behind him.

A car was coming straight for us. The impact from behind sent him flying. Like Superman.

He was my Superman.

My head hit the back of the seat in front me. I was knocked out, but I wouldn't wake up. I could feel myself out of my own body. I could look at what I was. Am.

The medics pulled a small, frail girl out of the car. Her eyes closed and mouth open. She was cut. Bad. Nothing was perfect like it was before.

Except for the headset and the little phone dangling at her side. I ran towards my lifeless body. But I realized I wasn't with Travis.

Where is Travis?

I called for him. But nothing came. I felt every hand, every finger prick and pull at my body. I could sense everything, I just wasn't in the body I had before. It seemed, no one noticed me at all.

I quickly climbed in the van alongside my body.

As I reached for the middle of my chest. I pressed my hand on my heart. Slowly, my hand fell through my real body, making my outside body convulse and shake.

"Stabilizer!" A medic yelled. She was given two pads and pressed them against me. I felt the electricity run through my body as the body and I crazily shook under the pads. And as I fell to the floor, all I hear was the beep beep of my heart.

But then I remembered.

I remembered everything that I knew.

Magic does exist. Spirits, angels, demons, gods. They all exist. Good or bad, they're here.

But what I didn't know, was which one I was.

And as I felt a soothing sensation crawl through me. I opened my eyes once again.

But this time, I was next to a girl. Her hair a fiery red. Untamable and dangerous. Her eyes a forestry green and wild. Her skin pale and tough.

And as she spoke, I felt her eyes move to me. And widen at my sudden appearance.

A spirit.

I'm a spirit.

But who is she.
