Chapter 4:

I step out onto the stage where I see the interviewer. I cannot believe I forgot his name. I guess I am too nervous. "Hello Ulrich," he says. I respond with a simple hello. We have a few exchanges until he finally tells me that he hopes the odds will be forever in my favor. "Thank you. I hope they are, too." And with that, He says my name again and we both stand in front of the cheering capitol crowd. Violet is up next, and what she says is not what I was expecting. "I may seem like just a Career tribute to you people, but I am NOT just some tribute. This has been going on for 41 years, now going into the 42nd year. How could the capitol treat kids like this. What did we ever do to you? It wasn't mine or any of these other tributes fault that our relatives started a revolution because you treated them like crap! And yes, I know now that the odds are never in anyone's favor."All 23 of us stare at her in dismay. "Aren't they going to punish her for that?" Asks Valencia from district 2. The other careers (Titan and Clarice from 1 and Hansel from 2) all agree that they should take her out right in front of me. "Oh, and by the way, we don't want district 4 as careers anymore," sneers Clarice. Trust me I wasn't planning on it. The interviews last another 30 minutes, with a surprisingly big ego coming from district 12 tributes. Later that night, our training scores are revealed.

Chapter 5:

"Titan with a score of 9." "Clarice with a score of 9." Hansel with a score of 8." The list goes on until it gets to us. Violet tells me she used knot tying as her skill. I tell her I threw knives as mine, and we both knew we did good when we got a training score of ten. I begin to zone out when I finally learn the names of the other tributes. Galina from district 10 also got a ten from the game makers, along with Skeet from district 8 and Muriel from district 12. I hate to admit it, but we had competition this year. Every tribute did well for their training score, because the lowest score went to the girl from 5, Denae. She scored a 7. "Alright, get some sleep you two! Tomorrow is a big day," says Garth from beside me. That night, I sleep the best I ever had.

Chapter 6:

"Give me your arm." I give this tall elderly man my arm as he injects me with my tracker. I can barely feel the pain, but it is there. I look to my right and see that there are only 12 people seated on this hovercraft. Districts 1-6 are on board this hovercraft while districts 7-12 are on another hovercraft. The ride to the launching building is quiet and fast.  When we arrive, I am escorted by two peacekeepers to where I am to be launched. Garth is there, waiting for me. My uniform is skin tight that it outlines my chest and abs. Garth smiles and me and tells me that I am strong and I can make it out alive if I tried. I nod, not knowing what else to actually say. I step into the pod while Garth nods at me. The glass quickly comes down to where I can't hear the outside world anymore. I feel a bit wobbly when the platform begins to rise, but I regain my balance so I can see the full arena.

Chapter 7:

"Happy Hunger Games, and my the odds be ever in your favor." I hear the voice as I scan my surroundings. We are on a beach and there will be a small swim to the cornucopia, which lies on a small island about 70 meters from where we all stand. When the holographic clock hits zero and the cannon sounds, we are off as fast as lightning. I swim as hard and as fast as I can before reaching the cornucopia. I am not the first one there, because I see Violet diving back into the water with a sword and a backpack. Others are already there fighting on the other side of where I stand. I grab a spear and a pack of throwing knives before I am pushed to the ground by the district 8 girl. She has a big knife in her and and tries to stab at my face, but I am too fast for her. I dodge her knife and kick her in the gut, giving me time to get up. She then gets up and runs after me in the water. That's when she jumps on my back and puts the knife to my neck. Before she can finish me off, I headbutt her with the back of my head causing her to fall off. I take of while she is regaining my balance and go back into the jungle behind my podium was. I see someone behind me, but it isn't the girl from 8, its the girl from 12, Muriel. She is staggering but comes at me with a sickle. She is very slow though, and I dodge her attack while throwing a knife right into her neck. She falls to the ground with a thud and I retrieve my knife from her neck. I run into the jungle and stop where I decide to sleep for the night. While getting cozy in a tree trunk, the name of the fallen victims appear. Starting off the list, is Violet. I quickly blink to see if I'm dreaming, but I'm not. I couldn't understand why! She was the first to escape the bloodbath, yet she had been killed. I was sick to my stomach while I watched the faces of other fallen tributes. The girls from 5, 6, 8, 10 and 12 were all dead, plus Violet. Hmmm I guess that girl from 8 got into the wrong fight. the boys from 3, 5, 7, 10, and 11 were dead. 11 people were dead on day 1. meaning 13 tributes were left in the arena that night. I was in for a long journey.
