"Hey, I heard Lizzie likes Hamilton. You know, the musical? You should ask her if she wants to come over to your house to listen to it."

Typical Nino. "Don't you think that's getting a little bit ahead of this? She practically didn't even know my name at lunch."

"Guys, you should stop texting. Mrs. Syms is going to get mad."

A shadow fell over my desk and I looked up to see Mrs. Syms. For such a nice lady she could get really scary when she was angry.

"Damn, bro, I'm surprised you didn't get detention!"

"I'm her best student, and I'm named after a founding father. What more could an American history teacher want?"

"Now we have to focus on getting you and Lizzie together."

"How? She won't say yes if it's just me."

"What? Dude, you're crazy. Lizzie's like the nicest person to ever exist. She'd totally say yes. Why wouldn't she?"

"I just..."

"Wait. Did you and Lizzie have something going on? You moved here from the same state, after all."

Shit. "No, nothing was going on. I just have this feeling that she'd be more likely to go if there were other people."

Nino gave me a suspicious look. "If you say so. We'll get a couple of her friends to go, and we'll be there too."

"But don't we need to get them alone?" Adrian popped up behind us.

"Oh, hey Adrian. Where have you been?"

"I was just helping my English teacher sort out the books."

Nino looked at him in disbelief. "Dude, it's Friday. That means we're free. It does not mean staying after school to help teachers."

"But I wanted to."

We started to walk to my house, our usual destination after school. "Whatever. Let's get back to the topic at hand."

"What's the topic at hand?"

"Alex's love life."

"No, really, it's fine. We can keep talking about Adrian's weird habits."

"I find your love life much more exciting than my helping people."

"Two against one, dude. Ok, so we were thinking about a little party. We invite like five people, including Lizzie. Then, we get those people (except for Lizzie) to go home. And, viola! Alex and Lizzie are alone."

"Great plan, guys, but why would Lizzie not go home if everyone else is leaving?"

"We could lock her in the bathroom and have Alex let her out so that he seems like a hero and then she'd want to stay with him instead of whatever she would do."

"Adrian, my dude, that's a pretty good idea."

"WE ARE NOT LOCKING LIZZIE IN A BATHROOM!" I yelled.

"Ok, ok. Do you have a better idea?"

"Well..."

"The bathroom idea is the best plan we've got, so we're going with it." Adrian nodded, agreeing with Nino's statement. They walked on ahead, discussing the schematics.

"Wait, guys!" I hurried to catch up to them. "We could have her friends tell her it was a sleepover at one of their houses, then they could come over to my house and we could all hang out. Then, you and the other girls leave together. I know at least one of them has a car. My car is in the shop, I can't use it for a while. So she's stuck there, with me. At least until her friends come back and pick her up. She'll probably be really mad at them though."

"Not if the night goes well. And we'll make sure it does."
