Anastasia Marie sat alone clutching her books to her chest, staring longingly at the friends that had ditched her over summer. Biting her lip she looked down and sighed. If only I could walk over there and talk to them she thought to herself. If only I could act like nothing had happened and they still wanted me. The friend group she had dropped everything for had dropped her. The boyfriend she used to have left her since they weren't going to the same school. Now here she sat, on the first day of school, with no friends and surrounded by stereotypes and cliques. If she didn't get in by first semester, she may as well be dead.

The bell rang signaling to go to homeroom and get schedules. Shit Ana thought to herself sitting for another minute waiting for the ringing to stop. People started rushing past her to get to their rooms. Ana took a large breath in, and letting it out stood up. Room 509 Ana read to herself as she walked towards building E.

"Watch where you're going!"

"Oh I-I'm sorry," Ana said biting her lip and looking towards the person she has just bumped into. His hair was brown and what would be described as scruffy. His eyes were a beautiful shade of blue and as he looked back at Ana his expression went from pissed to sympathetic. He was probably about to say something, but Ana whipped her head away and bolted up the stairs to the second floor and went into the building. 505, 507, ah 509, Mrs. Millip's Algebra room . Never going to have to remember that name I'm sure. Ana thought as she sheepishly walked through the classroom door.

"Sit wherever you'd like. We'll be in and out of this room before you know it," Mrs. Millip said in a slightly raspy voice.

Ana sat in the chair closest to the door so that she could slip out as fast as she could when released to the next class. Also she liked to watch everyone as they entered the room. Though she was watching people Ana mostly kept her head towards the map sitting on her desk. The the bell rang another time signaling a two minute warning and after that it rang once more to mark tardiness. Of course this was a freshman homeroom though, so anyone late to this room would be excused due to it being the first day of school.

"I understand there are still students coming in, but as I call your name come get your packets. If a friend walks in after their name is called make sure they know we'll go back through all the names again, good?" Mrs Millip asked. "Okay good. Susan... Sandra... Joseph... Bernard... Grant... Rachael... Anastasia..."

Ana stood up feeling eyes draw towards her, or at least that's what she thought. Half the kids in the room probably have no clue who she is, yet she felt everyone judging her as she picked up her packet and went back to the seat she was previously in. Anastasia opened the folder and the first paper was a schedule. I'll focus on finding one class at a time this way I don't get overwhelmed. She scanned the classes making sure they were all the ones she signed up for. First period writing room 612 building F.

"Now that everyone has that, have it filled out ASAP and turned back into first period teachers. Now if you'll please wait in line once done figuring out where you go for first to get a locker assignment."

Ana stood up, grabbing the back she had strapped to the back of her chair and slinging it over her shoulder. She than picked up the folders on the desk, and clutching them to her chest, walked up to the teacher first. "Which, um, locker am I? I'm Anastasia" Ana asked.

"Anastasia, hmm..." Mrs Millip said searching the list she had in front of her. Please no where near the girls I used to be friends with Ana thought. "Locker number 1457," the teacher said handing her a combination.

Ana quickly walked out the classroom and out of the hallway. Than she went down the stairs and into the large set of halls of lockers. Ana searched around for a little while until she found 1457. They weren't as large as the ones in movies, but they could fit her bag from the day. Starting tomorrow I don't bring a backpack. Ana thought to herself as she squeezed her things in. She pulled out of her bag the notebooks she would need for first and second periods. There were ten minutes between every class for time to go to lockers. The only class with less time was first into second, so grabbing the stuff for both classes avoided the risk of being late to second. Ana checked the time on her phone than slipped it into her back pocket closing her locker.
