I woke up to the sound of Madam Ganterbein yelling in her German accent.
"Wake up! Up, up, up!"
Ugh, I hate her so much. She makes my life a living hell. I sighed, as I sat up in bed and looked over to the calendar. Saturday. The day that people get freedom. I'm not going to be free until I'm eighteen, almost five years from now. That is, only if I don't get adopted, which is very likely, because everyone wants the little, cute children who still need parenting.
I went to wake up my brother Harry. He's seven years old. I still remember when they brought him to the orphanage, explaining to me that I had a brother. I was shocked and it seemed crazy, but the moment was still spontaneous. We bonded easily and we are close now. I told him to wash up and begin with the daily schedule.
After I cleaned myself up and put on my ugly uniform, which I absolutely hate. I then walked over to my best friend Maddy's room. It was nearby, only four rooms down, which was pretty cool. As I walked down the hallway, I heard shouting coming from two rooms down. I stopped to eavesdrop and noticed, Madam Ganterbein was one of the voices. She was shouting at a girl named Rylee for leaving her uniform on the ground. I heard a loud slap, then muffled crying and knew she had been spanked. I shuddered and kept walking. When I reached the room, I walked right in, finding Maddy slipping on her right shoe. I called a greeting and we began to walk towards the dining room.
"As I walked towards your bedroom," I began, trying to begin a conversation, "I heard Rylee getting scolded for leaving her uniform on the floor."
"Oh no!" gasped Maddy, as she covered her mouth with her hand. "I wonder how many spanks she earned for that!"
"I think its three or four spanks for disrespecting the uniforms." I paused. "So..."
"Do you think we will get any computer time today?" she began, "I have been craving to listen to Venus."
"Shh!" I scolded. "If anyone hears about that, we could be hurt badly. But, to be honest," I dropped my voice to a whisper, "Me too!" I giggled.
When we got to the dining hall, we sat down and began to eat. After, we continued on with our daily schedule.
At the end of the day, we were awarded computer time, for a half hour. Launching up YouTube took a while to load, so we looked at images until it was done. Suddenly, the electronic sounds burst through the room. Oops! Weren't our earphones plugged in? This is not good.
Madam Ganterbein came in shouting, "What is this?! Why is this deafening sound playing in the room?" She looked me straight into the eye and glared, marching towards me. Then she turned her head to Maddy, giving her the evil eye. She grabbed both our hands and began to drag us.
