"I can NOT believe you are going to be doing costume design for the new Chris Pine & Tom Hiddleston movie!", squealed my best friend Stacy
"I know I can hardly believe it myself!", I said equally as excited.
Yep, in two days time I will be flying out from my hometown of Mendon, Massachusetts to somewhere in the middle of Montana for three months to make these stars look good in my fashions. Last year I had won on a reality TV show "Designed By…" and picked out of 100,000 contestants nationwide to become the newest big thing in costume design for stage, television and film! I didn't even think I would make it to the top 10, let alone win! They announced the winner in a very unique way. They show a clip of a short movie they made up for the show and the winner was revealed by the main actor appearing in your design, breaking the fourth and congratulating you. It was a pretty rough 10 weeks too. Some of these contestants were très brutal. I remember one of the contestants getting kicked off the show because she got caught ripping a hole into another contestant's design. She thought since there were no cameras present she wouldn't get caught but one of the judges caught her when they went back there to find a safety pin. It actually brought more attention to the show. I digress, I was even more surprised when Director and writer Nancy Meyer, came out with actors Chris Pine and Tom Hiddleston to inform me that I would be designing costumes for their new movie "Thicker Than Water" a movie about two brothers who's bond is tested they both inherit their parents farm but can't agree if they want to keep it or sell it. I thought I would just get my name out there but I didn't expect to immediately get hired to work on a movie.
"Two more days and I'm off to Montana!" I said before I took a sip out of my blue coconut cream slush. Stacy had brought me to Sonic, our favorite grub spot for one last time before I got too busy before my flight out Montana this Friday night.
"And five more days till you're in the very good company of both Chris Pine and Tom Hiddleston" Stacy said nudging me and winking.
"Oh please," I said taking a bite of my French fry, "I'm just there to do my job. Not to get "Hiddlestoned" or become a "Pine Nut case".
"Oh come on, Renee", Stacy said rolling her eyes and taking a bite off her burger, "Do you know how many ladies would kill to be in you position and be dressing the stars from The Avengers and Star Trek!? You'll most likely get to see them shirtless!"
"Only you, Stacy", I said rolling my eyes.
Ever since I came home after winning "Designed By..." All I've heard Stacy talk about for the last nine months is Tom Hiddleston this and/or Chris Pine that. I guess you could classify her as a "Hiddlenut" or a "Pine Hiddle", you know like Pine needle. Stacy has Ben my best friend since I moved here in the 3rd grade after my mom and dad got divorced. Her parents got divorced when she was in first grade so she knows first hand what it's like to the hurt of seeing your parents split.
"Oh hey I have to get going!" I said getting on my seatbelt, "I'll just finish the rest of my shake on the way over.
"It's a good thing we ate before we start heading over to your mom's place it's an two hour long drive!", Stacy said buckling up her seatbelt and starting the ignition.
We pulled out of the Sonic Burger parking lot the started heading for the freeway. I absolutely hate driving on the freeway for extended periods of time, that's I'm glad Stacy is coming with me and ever happier that she's driving.
"Thanks for coming with me, Stacey. I would've been border the whole way there, since the radio in my car is busted.", I said placing my hand on her shoulder.
"You know if ain't a thing, girl! You'd do the same for me.", Stacy said turning on the radio
"Ma-ma-ma-ma-ma- mad mad mad! Ma-ma-ma-ma-ma- mad mad mad! Ma-ma-ma-ma-ma- mad mad mad!!!"
