So I felt that I actually had to write a story based on the song, since it's there.
He took a breath while peering into the mirror. Ran a hand through his hair. Sighed. Yoongi pushed himself off the bathroom counter and walked through his house to the front door. He was almost late, but it wasn't as though it would matter anyways.
He locked his door on the way out, and stuffed his headphones over his ears to block the sound of the city out. He knew his old boyfriend wouldn't approve. He never understood and appreciated music the way that Yoongi did.
He made his way into the cafe and was surprised to find Hoseok already there, waiting for him. He gave him a wave that Yoongi timidly returned. He walked up to him, pulling off his headphones, and Hoseok gestured to the drinks on the table.
"I already got your drink, since you always get the same thing and I didn't want you to have to pay..." Hoseok murmured. Yoongi nodded his head at him.
He reached out to grab his chair, but Hoseok battled his fingers away and grabbed it for him. He pulled it out in a dramatic fashion before signaling for Yoongi to sit down. Yoongi was again surprised.
Yoongi sat, and Hoseok did the same across from him. They tentatively started their conversation.
Mostly Hoseok just talks, but sometimes Yoongi will add a few of his own thoughts to keep the conversation flowing. He thinks he must seem shy, though. So as they get more comfortable, they both start to joke around together, in their own way.
He watches as Hoseok's head flies back after he made a joke. Yoongi didn't think it was that funny. His ex certainly wouldn't. But Hoseok seems to truly like his poor attempt at humor. He can't help but think that he looks like a child like this, though. The joyful look on his face looks entirely too innocent for this world.
They return to telling stories about themselves, and this time, Yoongi tells more about himself. He tells him how into music he is and how much he loves it, even though Hoseok already knows. He tells him repeat stories, but he doesn't seem to mind.
When they finally fall out of their talking trance, they realize that it's already starting to get dark outside. They both decide that it's time to leave, and on their way out, wave to the couple behind the counter and the three teens sitting at another table in the corner. The only other people in the shop.
Yoongi automatically follows after Hoseok on his way to his car and they continue to talk. But the cool air reminds him like a slap to the face of his ex boyfriend. He can't concentrate on what Hoseok is talking about while he invades his mind.
He wanted nothing more than to share the story with Hoseok, to take some of the weight off his shoulders. He wanted Hoseok to know about his terrible relationship and breakup that had happened eight months ago.
But then he finally realized what Hoseok was talking about. Christmas. Christmas with his family and watching the same movies every year, and eating too much. How it was always the best time of the year and it made everyone happy.
But then he said how one year, the entire family had gotten into a horrible fight, his grandfather had even died. Said that that was the one bad year.
Hoseok smiled at him and carried on about the next year. He said that the whole family had forgotten about the fight and were even closer than ever. And he said that sometimes you should just forget about the bad memories, and concentrate on the good ones.
Yoongi realized that it could be applied to his own life. He had been dwelling on his ex for too long. He was just a bad memory that Yoongi should try to forget. And for the first time since his breakup, what had happened in the past was behind him.
