(Ent. Director, walking in to speak to the large group ahead of him, and with his head hanging down, walking slowly with his hands in his pockets.)
Director
Okay everybody, I know the past 24 hours have been really stressful, especially nearing the end of production, and having that tragic event happen. (Que laughing track) The season is to end soon, but according to the network, they want to hold off putting out the final episodes until the news coverage will die down. Im not sure when production will pick back up, or even if they want to pick it back up. It was a huge tragedy that happened last morning, but no one is ready to laugh yet. (Que another laughing track) Mostly there's just been a bunch of crying, and scared people. America isn't ready for us yet.
Male Actor
But what about our pay, and didn't we already sign on for a new season?
Director
No, unfortunately not yet. And the pay for the next few episodes will be frozen too. (Laughing track)
Light Crew Worker
Sir we can't go that long without pay. Me and Blake just had a kid.
Director
I'm sorry, I truly am, but no one wants this yet. Especially at a time like this. What happened Tuesday morning didn't affect just us, but also families of 3,000 people. Families that watch our show. The network has predicted that our views are going to go down. The only shows getting views in the past 24 hours is CNN, Fox, and the local news. If we don't get an audience, then the network won't want us. (Laughing track) Every one go grab lunch. It's on me.
(Everyone leaves and as everyone is scattering, the Producer comes up to the Director to speak with him.)
Producer
You didn't tell them.
Director
Yes I did.
Producer
Not completely.
Director
Give them hope. They need it. We all do.
Producer
There isn't any hope. We're cancelled. We're done. Ratings were going down before, and last morning was the final nail in the coffin.
Director
We can start a new show. Hire the same people.
Producer
Gene. Please. Go home. See your family. They need you.
Director
What do I tell my wife? Hey
