Chapter Five

Austin

The next morning everything was a blur. My eyes had been glued to the ceiling before the damned alarm clock started ringing. Honestly, I wasn't sure if I'd gotten much of any sleep last night. I wasn't sure what kept me awake more-the big fucking deer head staring at me from the left or knowing the god damned farmer's daughter was sleeping right above me. I had a feeling that it was the latter, considering what sleep I did get was plagued by dreams of slipping those sheer panties down her legs and screwing her against the railing of that dock.

And that just wasn't acceptable. I'd been here less than 24 hours and I was already dreaming of fucking the only woman in this town that was off-limits. Something told me that if I did indulge and her daddy found out, I'd be back in New York before I could even get off. It didn't matter how fuckable she looked in those sheer undergarments last night, it wasn't going to happen.

It couldn't happen.

I had one shot to get my shit in line. One-shot. My mother had never really taken my antics seriously up until this point which told me one thing- they were getting serious about letting me step up to the plate and take over the position I'd worked so hard for. I wasn't going to let another woman fuck it all up for me-I could control myself for three months.

I pushed the heavy comforter off of me and pushed myself to the edge of the bed. When my feet hit the hardwood floors, the coolness of the wood calmed my body. I rubbed my eyes a few times and then stood. After rummaging through my bag for a few moments, I decided on a pair of khakis and another button-up shirt. I slipped my feet into my loafers and headed into the bathroom where I brushed my teeth and lathered on deodorant. When I was finished, I made my way to the door.

As soon as I stepped out of the room, I felt myself colliding with another body. Before she could fall to the floor, I grabbed and steadied her.
