"Excuse me."

Her forefinger gently, but firmly, nudged the girl's shoulder.

The girl irritably flipped her shoulder back, in effect pushing away her finger and her call for attention.

Trying to control her temper, Nikka noisily cleared her throat. "Ahem. Aheemmm."

She was ignored.

Her furious eyes glowed dangerously in the utter darkness of the cinema.

Trying to control her growing temper, she tapped her knuckles twice on the girl's shoulder, patting it down heavily, hitting her shoulder blades.

"What the. . . ?"

The girl sputtered, turning her head to her, the passion she's feeling apparent in her glassy eyes, her lips parted provocatively.

Behind her, Nikka vaguely saw the profile of the guy she was kissing. He was smirking nonchalantly, wiping his lips with the back of his hand.

The girl whispered angrily, careful not to attract attention to the other moviegoers. They are at the top row inside the cinema, occupying the lone three seats there.

"What is the matter with you? Why are you disturbing us?"

She raised her brows at this, hissing at her. "Me? Disturbing you? Isn't it the other way around? First, you sat on my sweater which I intentionally put there because I don't want anybody sitting beside me, then, you spilled your popcorn all over me in your haste to start a kissing session with him," her finger pointing at the guy who looked as though he does not have a single care in the world, "then, you kiss so sloppily and moan so loudly that everyone here in the cinema can hear you!"

The last phrase, she spoke loudly, which elicited sneers and giggles from the moviegoers in front of them. One of them even murmured, "Yeah, right!"

The girl gasped, and Nikka knew, even in the stark darkness, that her face had turned red with anger and shame. She looked at her kissmate sitting beside her, whose gaze is now fixed on the movie screen, tongue in cheek.

She tugged at his arm, whispering, "Honey, it's getting to be so stiffling in here. Why don't we go to my place?" her voice purring, reeking with lust, still unsatisfied.

"Honey," the guy turned to her, his face still hidden by shadows, "I happen to like this movie. Why don't you go home and give yourself a cold shower?"

Nikka thought, "How callous!"

The girl gasped, her shame multiplied many times over. She stood up hastily, her feet making loud noises as she stepped on the popcorn scattered on the floor. Angry heads turned her way, some of them telling her to hush as they are trying to watch the movie. Others made grumbling noises.

Looking as though she's about to faint at the humiliation she's suffering, she staggered, struggling to walk down the stairs with some degree of dignity. At the foot of the stairs, she ran hurriedly into the hallway leading outside to the cinema doors.

Nikka found herself alone with the callous kissmate at the top row of the cinema's balcony, an empty seat between them. She would have wanted him to leave too, but he leaned back on his seat and silently watched the screen, looking every bit as relaxed and engrossed at the film, having no care for the girl who left him, as Nikka was tensefully awaiting his next move.
