A Night in the Hospital

The day i had to stay over night at the hospital during a thunderstorm.

I was on my way to the hospital. I usually go to the hospital every friday after classes for my training. I noticed that the day was getting  darker and colder, but i didn’t pay  attention to it. “looks like there’s a storm coming ” the taxi driver spoke up breaking the silence, “ i heard that there was clear skies today” i say with a hopeful tone and smile, but soon my  smile turned to a frown when i heard the thunder and saw little droplets of rain  falling. I sighed, i didn’t even bring an umbrella with me today. We pulled up in front of the hospital and I thanked and paid the young taxi driver, he nodded his head in response then drove off. I started making my way up to the hospital entrance. Once i opened  the door the warm air of the hospital welcomed me.  “Hello Ms. Ryan”  I was greeted by the security guard, “Hello J, hows your day so far” I responded, “ perfectly fine , the usual i’ll say” he said with a kind smile,“ good to hear”I said as  I waved a goodbye knowing it was the end of our conversation. I walked to the cafeteria real quick to get some coffee then made my way towards the elevators. The doors were about to close when someone put their feet in the way. The doors opened only to reveal 
Dr. Marte. I rolled my eyes in disgust he is known very well in the hospital as the man who cheated on his wife with her own sister. That jerk. “ Good morning  Ms. Ryan” he said in a polite tone.  Who does he think he is acting as if everything is okay and that he shouldn’t feel guilty about what he did. I ignored his salute and exited the elevator.  I made my way towards the desk and got my schedule when I read it I found out I had to stay overnight due to the fact that my doctor has to go home. I groaned in annoyance “ I don't think they pay me enough for this” i whispered to myself .

                Later that night the hospital was about empty besides the two security guards out front, the thunders were still booming outside and I was getting even more frightened. I heard some noise outside and right away got to my feet. I slowly  walked  towards the door grabbing a pair of scissors on the way. When I got to the door I opened it slowly, I peeked thru and saw two  patients walking and looking at something outside. “Hey is everything ok there” I asked trying to sound confident. They didn't respond, ok, I made my way towards them shaking with each step, as I got near them I peeked outside and saw nothing. “ do you see that” asked one of the patients who's name I know is Maria, she is one of our special patients she had lost her memory and then something else just took over her mind, she hasn't remember anything for 3 years now and I don't think she will. “See what?” I asked confused. “ Exactly they’re not there my friend took care of them, finally, his lazy behind never gets the job right” Maria said with a smirk, and that's when I realized the security guards are not there. A loud thunder sounded and next thing I knew I was met with 4 white pupils, like they were completely white,that's when I panicked and started to run, I ran for everything I believed in, I ran for my life. I got to two big giant doors that read “ restricted area do not enter” but I ( being me ) ran in anyway. The room smelled like death and poison, I slowed down to catch my breath when I noticed they weren't after me anymore. I felt kind of relieved until I saw two shadows appear at the end of the hallway I ran under a table and try to keep quiet. Thump thump thump thump. I heard them getting closer and closer . I was really starting to panick.  Thump thump thu-.  They stopped and turned towards my direction. I knew I should've denied staying here, I knew I should've studied to be a professional dancer or maybe become a teacher like Mrs. pellington she's probably peaceful right now in bed drinking hot chocolate and reading a romance book . “Hahaha I know you’re  under there Ms. Ryan” i heard one of them say. My heart stopped, my breathing got heavier, I held the knife tight in my hand ready to commit the worst crime possible but I didn't care. Once I saw the foot I stabbed it with all my might and made a run for it again. I ran down the stairs into the main lobby I looked outside and saw that it was almost daytime Thank god. I kept running when I heard them coming,if I stop now my life will come to an end. I saw the telephone and made a run for it I grabbed it  but then realized the line was dead due to damages of the storm. I screamed in frustration and kept running. I was trapped between a wall and the two monsters, I slid down the wall slowly and started to pray.  God you love me right , give me one more chance i promise I won't mess up but please let this be a nightmare I'm not ready to die I hadn't even had kids yet or grand children.  When I realized that nothing was happening I opened my eyes. It was daytime and there was no one in front of me I checked every floor but there was absolutely nothing, the storm has stopped too. I went back to my office and grabbed all my things. Later on that day I told the securities what had happened, they looked at me like I was crazy and said that they were here the whole night inside and outside the hospital they said I should really go see a therapist or something and started to laugh. I gaped at what they said and exited the building.

                 
Four months later
         
           It's been a few months since I stayed over night  at the hospital. The hospital said that there is no patient named Maria and that there's always at least 2 security guards in the hospital and 2 more outside, they also said that the special patients are very well locked in their rooms and it will be very hard for them to pass the security system. I started seeing a therapist but there's one thing I know I'm not crazy enough to stay over night at that hospital again.
