You're the lump in my throat that I can't swallow
You are answers,
But you prose many questions
You are the words that never escape my lips
The thoughts deep in my subconscious.
You are my dreams.
The colors that my mind does not see.
You are the vast expanse of space itself
You're the highest mountain top that we cannot reach,
Will not reach
You run through my veins and you crawl under my skin
My mind molds with your discontent.
You are what burns in my chest,
What fills my lungs.
You are shivers down my spine
You are the shapes I see in the dark when I let my imagination get the best of me
You are salt in the wounds of my enemies
You're the people's growing discontent
You're a mother's love
Or a father's hatred
A lover's jealousy or a friend's trust
You are what I confide in
You are my soul.
You are all these things and so much more.
You're the soul of the world.
Passed down for generations,
Shared by all.
You're red marks on cold stone walls.
You are tales of the divine
You are heavy shadows and romantic light,
Blocks of color,
strokes of vibrance,
Violence,
Peace.
Sometimes you are clear but more often than not
Your intentions are hidden deep within your skin
Written on your bones and in the mind of your creator
Few understand you
And even fewer try.
We know hardly a thing about you,
Yet you've survive with us
Survived in our hearts
You are eternal.
