"Girl why you all over my plate?" Shawn complained as I took one of his shrimps, we were at a Mexican restaurant and he had ordered shrimp tacos. They looked so good that I had to try it.

"They're good and spicy" I said after I wipe my mouth, he just chuckle and shook his head.

"You enjoying this date so far?" Shawn ask. I nodded my head and took a bite of my steak quesadilla.

"What made you want to take me out?"

He shrug his shoulders "Because I knew this is what you wanted plus I actually like spending time with you."

"Aww is Shawn catching feelings for me?" I said joking, he didn't say anything just got quiet and went back to eating his food. I'll take that as a yes though.

"What was your childhood like?" He ask after a while of silence among us. I was kind of taken back at the question because we never really got personal with each other.

"Umm...I guess I can say I had an okay childhood. My parents was together until I was thirteen but before than I had great memories with them. We were a middle class family who was always taking vacations together and spending time with each other."

"Why your parents split up?"

"My father had multiple affairs" I paused and softly laughed "Honestly you remind me of my father in some ways"

Shawn gave a confused look "Should I take an offense to that?"

I shook my head and laughed again "No I mean you two are somewhat alike when it comes to relationship. My father never wanted to be tied down and be a family man but my mother ended up pregnant with me anyways and my father only stuck around to raise me. That only lasted so long though. He left when I was thirteen to be a free man."

"Damn that's fucked up ma."

I nodded my head and got quiet. I never really like talking about my father because it always bring me anger that he just left because he didn't want to play the family role anymore. If that was the case then he should have never stayed in the first place.

The waiter that we had come over to refill our drinks and walk back to the other tables he was serving.

"Why did you ask about my childhood?"

Shawn grinned and shrug his shoulders "Just was curious to know what your childhood was like to get a sense of why you act like the way you do."

"Really? Well why don't you take the turn and tell me about your childhood." I was really curious about Shawn's behavior and where it came from.

"It's honestly ain't much but since you wanna be nosey I guess I can tell you a little bit" I rolled my eyes and waited for him to continue. "Let's see my parents were together until my father passed away but before he died he was a great father but a lousy ass husband. Like your father he cheated on my mother for years but instead of having multiple affairs he had just one. Some woman who was his coworker. Got her pregnant and everything. I always wonder why my mother never left him but never got the courage to ask the question. Felt like I wouldn't understand because it was probably a woman thing."

"That's crazy that we have something in common now. We both watch our mothers suffer a broken heart while trying to deal with staying married to our fathers."

"Yea but at least my father was still in my life though yours was bogus as fuck and left when you was hitting your teen years. That's when you needed him the most so that he could scare off niggas like me."
