Everyone has heard the term "soulmate." Some people believe it to be a fallacy. Others believe it is meant for the good of heart. Well in the land of Aredore it means something much more. In Aredore the term "soulmate" means to age. No the word doesn't actually mean to age, but the idea. In Aredore we live and age until we turn eighteen, during this time we spend our lives at the academy, learning and studying our history, and how to control our discipline of magik. Yes magik, here in Aredore once we turn eighteen the queen visits us as graduates and determines and tells us our specific discipline of magik. After that we work and search for our "soulmate." Well those that want to, some never find theirs, or they search for them and murder them. Until we spend time with them we don't age, now as I mentioned we can die we aren't immortal, we can be killed or die from disease, though the latter is rare. Now our queen, Regala, she has taught us the way of magik. People say she is around four thousand years old but she still looks like she's 18. Now we aren't allowed to perform any magik till we turn eighteen, mainly because it requires a lot of energy if we perform any magik outside of our discipline. So until then practice the basic stances for each discipline. Technically we don't know every discipline that exist but some of the most powerful and rarest in order from most rare to least include, time, storm, lightning, shadow, and  divination. The reason Regala is queen, is because of her specific discipline, time to be exact. Well the real name is Time manipulation, but people never call it that, doesn't really roll of the tongue as well as time magik. Now even though Regala has this rare discipline which is powerful but it's not meant for battle, well not quick battle that is, There is a story that way back when, before Regala actually became queen, it's said that she dissolved an entire civilation. The call it the civilization time forgot. That was two thousand years ago, but usually when speed matters she isn't very strong on her own. So she keeps this kind of task force near her constantly. Her guards as they say consist if Kakarof and Borokovich from the north, their discipline is ice and their twins so they don't ever have to worry about "soulmates." Next is Moria and Markus from the south, fire magiks, brother and sister, show offs. There is an old man known as Darwin with his son August. Darwin's discipline is divination, basically he's just a seer, while his son August has healer magik. Basically just supports for Regala and her guard, she actually killed Darwin's wife. Then two twins, from the west, they are mutes and no one seems to know their names but they have made sure that people know about their Iron discipline. There is one last guard on her task force, my brother, Eliot, the pride of the family. His discipline, lightning magik, and when I get my discipline there would only be two ways I could show up my brother, and that's if I had storm magik or time magik, so basically my chances are astronomically low. As far as I know, I'd probably get something useful but just not powerful. Something like industrial or water magik, I mean if I get lightning magik I would be Eliot's equal, but if not I would rather get classed as fire magik or earth magik. Then I could get put into the Arlor. The Arlor is like a type of army. Protects the everyday person from rebels and murderers. "Elysia, could you come down here, I need your help." "What the hell do you want Florence, I'm trying to finish this aptitude test." Florence my best friend, a tall well built girl, stronger than any of the rest of our class. We just turned eighteen last month and had to wait until the end of the term too graduate, which I mean it's okay we got to study some basic stances for the rarer disciplines. Now before we can graduate tomorrow we have to finish our aptitude test. "Elysia, please I don't understand this question." Florence isn't the brightest but as I said she's strong so it keeps me from being beat up. I would only get beat up because everyone thinks I have an unfair advantage into the Queens task force. "Ugh, fine, give me a sec," I call back. We live in this two floor flat at the university. We only get it because of my brother. I walk to the balcony where the stairs are and see Florence at her desk with the most pitiful look on her face. "You look pitiful, are you trying to guilt me into this," she showed an award winning smile, "only of it's working, is it working?" I smile at her, "fine what's the question?"
