The sound of small distant chirps awoke macaw from his nap, glancing over he saw his mother Amazon grooming his brothers wings which were soaking wet from the rainstorm they had last night,
"Hi ma!" Macaw chirped as he bounded over to his mom who turned and gently nuzzled his snout,
"Nice sleep eh? You were passed out for a while." His brother laughed teasingly,
"Hey! At least I'm not the birdbrain who decided to sleep outside in the rain!" Macaw retorted. His brother parakeet always boasted about his latest accomplishments to the tribe members,
"Macaw. Parakeet."
They both whipped their heads around to see their mother glaring at them impatiently, parakeet sulked and dashed outside the home while macaw curled up in the far corner of the nest watching fellow dragonets zipping past laughing and playing in the sun.
"Macaw, it's a wonderful day out why don't you play with your brother?" Amazon asked him kindly.
"It's just not the same without dad... He promised that we would fly all the way to the jademountains..." Macaw said softly
Amazons expression became somber, "I know it's hard to move on without Orion..  But he would want us to be happy macaw."
He sighed, "I guess.."
