Katrina's  P.O.V

I was always told in my life...

" You can't do that! Your a girl! Girl's can't do anything!", said the annoying kid in my fourth grade class.

" Get lost! I have much better things to do than help you learn something! ", said the rude and grouchy neighbor next door to my house.

" You are such a disgrace! You could have done something better! You don't know how to do that obviously! Why do you have to be 'Our' daughter?! Any child would have been better than an Ice Skating piece of trash! ", said my abusive Mother and Father. They didn't care of what I thought.

No one had tried to for many years and I had to live with that sense I was six years old.

One day though, everything changed for me. A light of faith shined down on me for its help. A kind of help that lifted my spirits and to not give up. A hand reached out to me to help me on my feet. A gentle smile appeared on his face. His beautiful emerald eyes stared down at me. It was the faith that I really needed for my dying heart inside.

Eventually, I lifted my hand up gliding it onto his smooth skin. My hand was held tightly.

I knew by then.... This was the start of a new future for me.

January 26 2010

I was only nine years old in third grade at this time of date. I made through another day of the exhausting hours of the dreaded school. Though, I liked it and was excited when it was time to leave school.

I always brings an extra sports bag filled with my favorite skates with my dearest jacket to wear. I always run by myself to an Ice skating Rink a very old and good friend of mine runs. Mr. Firestone, or his full name; Mitchell Firestone. I always visit him after school and ice skate at his rink. I always had to go down a street that went over the ocean and it was so beautiful in the afternoon.

Today happened to be a bad day unfortunately. On my way to the rink I came upon a group of bullies down the street that was next to the ocean. Two were smoking while three were playing a small game with paper and the last one was spray painting on the wall. They seemed to be older than I was. I knew I was heading right into trouble and the only way to get to the rink was to walk forward because from here it's only about a mile away.

" Hey there little girl. Where you think your heading to? ", one boy had said to me as another one began to walk behind him. He had slick back, black hair and hazel eyes while the one behind him had mo-hock of red hair and a piercing on his nose. They looked filthy and disgusting. They smelt of old raged cigarettes making me cringed and cover my nose.

" Leave me alone. I don't have in on any of your filthy ideas. I just want to cross and-

" Ooohh what you got their in that little sports bag I see? " , the smelly boy interrupted me as he began to grow closer and the rest of his gang of bullies began to circle around me. I began to feel frighted a little but I never held back if I had something to say.

" That is not your concern! Now just go away! " , I shouted to all the bullies as I gritted my teeth at them and held on tightly to my sports bag. I knew this was going to end badly. I just want to be at the Ice Skating Rink by now with Mr. Firestone.

All of a sudden, a figure began to move in the corner of my eye. Within a flash, I felt a hard pain strike on my side. I winced as I fell back onto the dirty street as I scratched my arm on the cement. I noticed that my stomach wasn't just randomly hurting, one of the bullies kick me in the side down to the ground. They all began to laugh at me.

" You don't have the right to order us around kid! Only we can! It's called Freedom of Speech! You wouldn't understand that though because you such a little girl! Give me that bag! " , the boy yelled looking down at me as he reached out and snatched up my sports bag that layed beside me. I worriedly tried to grab it from him but the bully moved out of my reach while I sat there on the ground.
