Being an apprentice, Ashpaw is supposed to work hard to become a warrior. But he does the complete opposite. Not seeming to care about anything, he often cuts corners in his training, and messes around, but he is still popular in his clan. He is bigheaded, and never seems to learn anything from his mentor, but is actually quite bright. Though he doesn't show it, he is a great hunter, but prefers to laze around, and give his prey a heart attack instead of creeping up stealthily on it. He often pranks the young apprentices, giving them rabbit droppings, and telling them it's a tasty berry, which they believe, until they eat it. The only thing Ashpaw takes an interest in is battle training, and he usually practises his moves until sunset, until he has mastered them perfectly. Despite this, he isn't the best at combat, and he seems to freeze in a real battle, and then turning away to retreat. Even though, his hard work is paying off, and he is slowly turning into a better, more mature warrior.
