Living In The Shadows

It was an early Tuesday morning, Kaylee was getting ready for her first day of summer school. She decided to put on her green floral crop top, shorts with roses, white sneakers, and a red bandana. Kaylee had failed her geometry and decided that if she wanted to graduate on time with her friends that she should retake it during the summer. A couple of her friends went to summer school to make up some lost credits also. So it shouldn't be that bad. Right?

Her class was a drag, Kaylee couldn't concentrate on anything. She spent most of the class playing with her pen and doodling on her notes. It was lunch time now so she met up with her friends Rosalie and Katy. Kaylee smiled as she walked up to the table "Hey guys" they looked up from their phones and nodded in her direction then looked back to their phones. She shook her head then looked around. That's when she noticed her cousin Adam walking her way. Adam and Kaylee were both gay, and though they were out at school, they were still closeted at home for the most part. She waved Adam over and he smiled when he saw her, making his way over. "Hey cousin" said Kaylee. He replied "Hey girl" as he sat down. Adam noticed Rosalie and Kate on their phones "What's up with them?" Kaylee shrugged as she popped a fry into her mouth "I have no fucking clue they've been on their phones since I got here. Hey I'm gonna go get a drink. Come with?" Adam raised an eyebrow "Will you buy me something?" Kaylee shrugged "I mean I guess. Let's go."

Kaylee and Adam were talking about random shit as they were in line waiting, when they reached the front of the line Kaylee ignored the cashier and just asked for their drinks. It wasn't until she payed that she noticed the student working the cash register. She had long wavy dark hair, with light green eyes. Kaylee instantly became nervous and handed the girl the money with a shaky hand. "Here's your change, have a nice day." Said the girl. Kaylee just stared at her in awe, Adam reciprocated the comment and pulled Kaylee away from the snack cart. "Uhm what the hell was that?"

Okay that was my first chapter. I hope you enjoyed it. I've been wanting to write another story ever since I deleted my last one. This story is kind of a test run. I wanna see how these first few chapters turn out. In case you wanted a visual representation of the characters, here you go.
