INTERVIEW WITH… sallyscissor

Please introduce yourself…

Helloooo, I’m sallyscissor. Real name’s Sally. You can call me Sal.

Name one of your books and give a short description of it / why you think we should read it…

My newest and probably favorite so far (don’t tell my other books) is called ‘Save My Day’. It’s about two Hollywood actors - one uber famous dream guy type, the other bad boy and new to the scene. They meet during a shoot they do for the new blockbuster ‘Save the Day’ and become instant best friends. One night after the premiere of the movie, they have a small after party and end up getting wasted. When they wake up the next morning neither of them know how or why they married each other!

At what age did you start to write?…

My sophomore (year 10) year in high school is when I really got into it. Soooo… like… ::cough::8::cough:: years ago.

When did you join wattpad? How long have you been a member?

I found at the beginning of 2011, but I only used to read from my iPhone. So I didn’t make an account until summer time when I decided to post my own stories

.

What was your first book?

No Cure For Curiosity

How has your writing style changed over your time on wattpad?

I think it’s less formal and more grammatically correct. I decided to stop playing safe and start letting my personality shine through a bit. It’s way better, I believe.

What is one thing you hate? / can’t stand?

IRL - I absolutely positively cannot stand when people don’t use their blinkers when turning or changing lanes. Wattpad - when paragraphs run on forever.

What type of book do you prefer to read / write?

LGBT (which mostly consist of romance) and humor. I LOVE to laugh.

What inspires you to write?

Just about anything. My beautiful girlfriend. If I read something that gives me an idea (like Save My Day was inspired by one of MaddyRawr10’s one-shots). Music helps a lot.

What type of person would you class yourself as?

Outgoing. When I was in high-school I was that one person that when around to all the ‘cliques’ I was in drama and soccer and on the dance team and in advanced classes. Pretty much everyone knew me, but I wasn’t a ‘popular kid’.

What’s one of the most embarrassing things that’s happened to you / you’ve wrote?

Nothing too embarrassing, but I have some awkward situations. Well I’m a lesbian, so it gets awkward when guys hit on me. I’m not one of the man-haters, but I can’t let something think they have a shot. As for writing, boyxboy sex scenes. -.- But I love love, so it’s not really a big deal.

Do you have things a certain way when writing? Like certain conditions?

I wear noise blocking headphones and blast my music.

What book/s are you reading at the moment?

That changes daily. I read A LOT! I can read a book cover to cover in a day if I don’t have a job to do.

Who is your favourite author?  (either generally or on wattpad)

IRL – Cynthia Hand and Lauren Kate. Wattpad – MaddyRawr10

What’s your earliest memory?

When I was like 7 or 8, my cousins and I used to put on these like ‘talent-shows’ for my mom and uncle. The one I can remember most vividly is getting all dressed up in like ridiculously huge hats and boas and high-heels and singing MMMBop. Then after the ‘show’ my older sister broke my cassette tape. I was devastated.

Random question but what’s your favourite… candyfloss, ice cream, candy, crisp(includes Doritos) or cookies ?

Salt > Sweet any day. Crisps.

Do you put messages in your books?

Most LGBT books have a message. Acceptance.

What do you want to do for a career?

I’m already in my mid-twenties :( I have a career in Graphic Design. It’s amazing. I love it.

Where are you from?

Originally – Missouri (USA) now I live in Florida (also USA)

Which of your books do you think is the most popular? And why do you think that is?

I don’t know about most popular, but the biggest response so far is ‘Save My Day’. I think it’s because it’s fun to read. They guys are so well suited.

What is one thing that you regret the most?

Trying to hide who I was for so long. Now, I’m a proud lipstick lesbian.

Name one celebrity that, if given the chance, you would slap with a fish.

I might get a lot of hate mail for this, but Taylor Lautner. (not because he’s Jacob) I’m a Twilight fan, but not a twihard. Book are way better. Either way, it’s just something about him that drives me insane, and not the fangirl type of insane.

Favourite word at the moment?

Mong. I’m American, but when I was in the military I went overseas and met a bunch of British guys in the British Army. I still talk to one quite frequently and he called me a mong today. It took him like 30 minutes to explain to me what it meant. Now I love it. For those American’s out there – look it up on UrbanDictionary.com

Is there anything you find particularly challenging? In life or writing?

Everyone has their strengths and weaknesses, but I love a good challenge.

Who does your covers?

Me!

Skirt or trousers girl?

Trousers. But I like to look girly.

Fancy some shameless self promotion?

LOVE ME!

Some last words for the readers of this interview…

I love you. In a completely platonic i-don’t-know-you-but-appreciate-you-as-a-person type of way. :D
