"So you bought your sister a guitar for her birthday, and it was her favorite present," he says, looking impressed.
I shrug and keep my eyes on the road. "We're pretty close."
"So are Gemma and I."
I sneak a glance over at him. "Your sister?" I ask.
"Yeah, she's great."
I nod. "They can be, when they're not annoying you to death."
He laughs. "Which is a lot."
I grin. "Yes. All the time."
"That's pretty impressive that you gave her a guitar. Most siblings just give each other girt cards or something."
"Well, not me. I'm different."
"I like a girl who's different. Keeps things interesting, if you know what I mean," he says with a smirk.
What was that all about? All of a sudden, a memory of Syd describing the boys' personalities floods into my mind.
*Flashback*
"So Zayn's vain?"
"Yeah," she answers.
"So quiet guys with scientifically perfect faces are your type?"
"Precisely."
"What are the others like?" I ask.
"Niall's silly, he's a goof ball," she says, pointing to the blond one. "Liam's nice, he's kind and gentle and doesn't hurt anybody. He's kinda the one that makes everybody get along. The problem solver."
"Uh huh. Okay."
"Louis is the leader of the group, and he's also the sassy one. Nobody messes with Louis the Tommo Tomlinson, Queen of Sass."
"And Curly?" I called him that even back then.
Syd lets out a small laugh. "He's kinda pervy. He loves penis jokes."
"Oh, goodness. You're too young for that."
"Am not!" Sydney retorts, "I'm twelve years old!"
"Woo," I say sarcastically, waving my hands in the air. "You've already got a foot in the grave. Twelve whole years old!"
"Shut up," Syd says, and we both end up laughing.

*Back to Present*
The pervert. Oh joy. I have to deal with this.
I'm eighteen years old, I think to myself jokingly, I'm too young for this!
I turn off on the nearest exit and slow at a red light. It's about midnight now.
"W-what are you doing?" Harry asks nervously.
"Getting gas," I tell him. "My tank doesn't stay full forever."
He lets out a sigh of relief and he puts his glasses and fedora back on as we near the gas station.
"That hat is seriously ridiculous," I complain.
"I like it!"
"You would," I say under my breath.
"Heard that!" He shouts.
"You were supposed to!" I say right back as I pull my car up next to the gas pump. I pull my purse out, but Harry puts his hand on my wrist and stops me. "What?" I ask impatiently.
"Let me pay for it. It's the least I can do, after everything."
I laugh. "That's nice of you to offer after all this, but no. I've got it." I start to get out of the car with my wallet, but he pulls me back again.
