Chapter 2- Memories

Did you ever just wake up one day and just KNOW it was going to be a bad day?

Well that's what I thought when I woke up today. Because not only had I woken up late due to my stupid alam that stupidly did not set last night, my mom was awake too.

So in my rush to not be late for school, I quickly do my morning routine. Instead of going for my usual go-to look which consists of a pair of ripped jeans, my worn out converses, a Led Zeppelin band T-shirt and a coat of mascara. But since I was late, I slipped on one of my baggy hoodies with a pair of black leggings and my converse.

I grab my phone and my ear buds and made my way down the stairs as quietly but quickly as I can without disrupting my mother. As I walk into the kitchen I see my mother doing something I never thought I'd see for a long time.

My mom was cooking.

This must be some alternate dimension or something because the last time my mom cooked me breakfast was the day before she got in her accident four years ago.

"Evaleigh sweetheart, sit and eat breakfast with me" she says which brings me out of my daydreaming to realize that she just called me by my name.

She remembered.

As quickly as I can I run up to her and hug her so tight it could possibly suffocate her. With tears rolling down my face, I pull away and look at her and she seems to have a confused look on her face.

"Jeez honey, I just woke up. Are you trying to kill me or something" she says laughing.

"You...reme...remember m.... me...." I say between sobs. She looks at me like I'm crazy for a second before saying "of course I remember you honey, you're my daughter" she says grabbing my face between her hands. "I could never forget you" she says and kisses my forehead. That's when I busted out in tears. I dropped to my knees sobbing so incredibly hard that when I finally calmed down, I found it really hard to breathe.

My mom was right there beside me though. Holding me and rubbing my back until I calmed down. I looked at her and even she had a couple tears. "I'm going stay home today. We can watch all your favorite movies and we can bake our favorite brownies and we can-" I say before she cut me off with a wave of her hand.

"No, you are not missing school for me. I'll be fine dear, and I'll be here when you come back and we can do all of that tonight. I promise honey" she says.

I contemplate telling her what goes on in school but at the last second I just say "really mama, it's okay I won't miss anything" I plead.

"Nonsense, your going and that's final." She with a smile on her face. "I will still be here when you come home.  I promise. Go." She says and with that basically pushes me out the door. Before she shuts it though she says "I love you so much sweetheart."

I run back to her and throw myself at her and hug her so tight like I'm scared to let go. Because I am.
"I love too mama. Please stay this time." I beg.

"I will. Now go. Don't be late" and with that she shuts the door and I turn around and make my way to school.

See, my mom got in an accident about four years back, it was pretty bad. They said she died on the operating table but miraculously, he heart start again and she was breathing again. Unfortunately, she lost her memory. For about a year she didn't remember me. It was horrible. But then she started getting bits and pieces back and now her memory just comes and goes.

 It's been a whole year since she called me Evaleigh.

 A whole year since she recognized me.

 I don't know when she will lose it again but I hope that I have this chance to spend with her and tell her everything I've wanted to tell her for a long time before my mom leaves me again.

I hope she stays longer this time.

Okay. This was pretty long I'd say. Took me a few days but this chapter is done!!!!! Yay!!!! Anyways yeah, let me know how you like this chapter. Whoever reads it that is. Thaaannnkkkss!!!!!
