brennan's pov.

he turned around and kissed me.

i froze. i didn't know what to do. i didn't want to make him feel insecure by pulling away, but i didn't wanna get his hopes up. so i froze. after about 10 seconds he pulled back.

i stood there awed. but what he said next, really got to me.

annie's pov.

"so, did you see josh yesterday?!" katie basically shouted at me.

"josh. josh? hm, the josh that i sit next to in calculus, history, english, and physics josh? nah, haven't seen him in awhile." katie rolled her eyes at my sarcasm.

she has had the hugest, im telling you, hugest crush on josh since 5th grade.

"im telling you katie, he's just gonna hurt you. he dated 23 girls in just his sophomore year. please, be careful."

you see, josh and katie have been talking now. i just don't have a good feeling about him.

"thanks ans. i know you've always got my back." she smiled and poured a glass of orange juice.

"soooo, any specific guy you've got eyes on?" she looked at me with one eyebrow raised. i nearly choked on my waffle.

"katie, boys are overrated. besides, there's this one guy i've liked for awhile now, just never told anyone." truth was, i never did like anyone. well, back in 5th grade me and brennan had a puppy love thing, but as we got older, we realized it was stupid.

i didn't realize it, but i was smiling thinking about brennan and i's puppy love.

"hey ans!" i heard brennan say walking down the stairs. "whatcha smiling about?"

i snapped out of my daydream and looked up with a smile painted on my face.

"oh ya know, just thinking back on some silly memories."

"oh cool, which ones?" he asked as he bit into an apple. i just kind of sat there smiling not knowing what to say.

"hello? earth to annie, do you read me?" katie said waving her hand in front of my face.

i snapped out of my gaze and looked up to see katie and bren sitting there, waiting for my answer.

"well?" brennan asked.
