Everything was a blur the moment I opened my eyes. I do not have an amnesia, but what happened before I passed out, I can't remember. I glanced to my side and reached for my glasses on the side table. My vision has always been bad since I was ten. That was eight years ago. I also had braces too and my hair was really fizzy. It was the stage of puberty. Acne was all over my face. It sucks. I call that phase, the Dark Ages. I sat up on my bed and I felt the ice pack slide down to the side. My eyes searched the room for company. There's none, well, unless you count my band posters and all, which I have tons.
I heard the door knob turn, and I watched my mother walk inside my bedroom. I smiled at her and she smiled back, but her eyes were full of worry. She carefully sat down on the edge of my bed and held my cold hand.
"Feeling better?", she asked. I nodded in response.
"But, what happened? How long was I out?", I asked.
"You were out for 5 hours. The family doctor just left an hour ago. He still does not know the cause of your sudden fainting. You ate this morning, right?", she said as she caressed my cold hand. Again, I nodded in response.
The air was filled with silence for a while. My mom is still sat on my bed, staring at my uninteresting floor. I constantly swallowed my spit because my throat was really coarse and dry. Then suddenly, my brother came in saying dinner's ready. Mom got up and offered her hand, and as soon as I stood up, she made sure that I was not dizzy. I also just noticed that she's wearing this awfully nice dress my dad got her for Christmas. She's dressed up quite spiffy tonight. I went downstairs with just my usual pajamas and all. It has this crazy cat prints on them, but I regretted it. Downstairs, my dad is talking to a really posh-looking guy. He's wearing a suit and all that, and I think Dad knows him for quite some time. His wife, a gorgeous brunette, was handing a bouquet of pretty pink roses to my mom, but behind the smart-looking lady was her son. He's got quite some height, 6 feet tall maybe, and I'm guessing he's around my age. He has this curly hair that would probably look funny and ridiculous on other male species, but it looks so damn good on him. I looked at his eyes. They were emerald green and tantalizing. They were staring back at me, so I looked away. I felt my pale cheeks blush, and I caught a quick glimpse of him smirking at my embarrassment. I scoffed and looked away once more. I could still feel the foreign guy smirking, which shows off his dimples and all. I approached my mom quickly to avoid his stare.
"Mother, I should go change. You didn't tell me that we have visitors.", I whispered.
"I'm sorry sweetie. Don't take too long. We're going to have dinner in a moment.", she called.
I rushed to my bedroom panting. I then grabbed a simple black dress I've had for a year now. It's just an average skater dress. It's a staple piece. I also slipped onto my black flats, and tied my messy bed hair into a ponytail. I rushed down the stairs panting, and again, I caught the glimpse of the smirking green-eyed boy. Dad called everyone to the dining area and I sat in between my mother and brother whilst the visitors sat opposite to us. The green-eyed male is staring intently at me which made me really uncomfortable. I swear to God, his smirk never left his face. Luckily, Dad started saying graces and let us dig in.
"So, Robin", Dad started while poking his cut salmon. I am pretty sure he's talking to his colleague. "You never told me you got married with Anne, but I knew, even by the time, that you are going to marry her."
Robin chuckled. "Ha I'm pretty sure you thought that Nathaniel. We've been mates since, what, middle school? But then, you have to leave England in Year 10. I'm glad we still communicated."
"Of course, of course. You're my best friend!", Dad said and turned to look at Robin's wife. "Good ol' Twist has told me so much about you, Anne. A lot of great things!"
"He did? Aw that's so sweet of you, love.", she replied as she brushed elbows with her husband. All of the adults were having a great time talking about the past and what's new. My brother, is on his phone, probably asking his friends some Microsoft points for his Xbox or something, but the other guy, the curly-haired's just staring at me. To be honest, I am quite creeped out. I mean, I barely know this guy.
My mother, probably noticed the intense staring contest between me and the guy, interrupted and said, "So, what's the name of your handsome son, Anne?"
The guy sat properly and pushed his hair back. He then plastered the most amazing smile I've ever seen.
"Well, where were my manners?", he started. His voice was low, his speech was slow, and his British accent was really thick. "I am Harry. Harry Styles. Nice to meet you.", he finished as he stared directly in to my eyes as if directing every word to me.
Then, my mom looked at me, signalling that I should introduce myself as well. So, I did. "I'm Calypso. But I'd prefer to be called Callie. Calypso is a mouthful.", I said and I laughed nervously.
"Calypso... like in the Greek Mythology.", Harry said.
"You have such a beautiful name.", Anne told me and I thank her.
"Calypso... what was her story again?", Harry asked but no one answered him. Even me, the Greek nymph's namesake.
"Of course. A beautiful name and a beautiful girl, such a wonderful combination. ", Robin also told me. I felt my cheeks flush.
Harry smirked and had a bite of his salmon. "Calypso . Now, I remember her. She detained Odysseus in her island for several years. I quite fear you now."
"And why is that? We just met.", I said with confusion.
"Because you might detain my heart."
The parents were looking at each other with huge grins plastered on their faces. They looked silly, and I felt extremely embarrassed. Then my brother turned his attention back to the real world.
"Wait, what the fuck is happening?"
