There was something about living peacefully that made Dinah happy. When the girl had dropped all the fake people she called her friends and got to finally do things at ease, she realized how much easier life was.
Not that everything was grand and simple but it surely was a lot calmer. Months upon months of unnecessary drama nearly made the blonde's hair go grey. Now that she had just her two genuine friends, she was happy.
"Dmac !" Kehlani's raspy voice brought the Polynesian girl from her far away mind. She looked up to see the smiling faces of Chance and Kehlani, her two genuine friends. Boy had they both put up with her crap for so long. She was surprised that they had actually stayed friends with her.
The blonde girl smiled at her tattooed friend, "What's up Nami ?"
"We were asking if you were ready to go to the library or not ? C'mon girl, the end of the day bell rang about a minute ago." Chance chuckled making Dinah's cheeks flare up in embarrassment. Her mind seemed to be flying off lately.
Softly Dinah nodded and put her backpack over her back. The trio had just finished their last class of the day and decided on studying for their exam together.
Chancelor, Kehlani, and Dinah Jane. Boy were those three a bunch. The three had been best friends since diapers and were inseparable.
Kehlani was the genius artist of the three, always passing with ease and singing her heart away. The girl was in multiple school clubs, leading them of course, and was had been in Chamber Choir since freshmen year.
Chance was the all around good boy. He played football, basketball, and co-ed volleyball. He also sang and rapped alongside Kehlani in Chamber Choir. The Chicago boy always looked out for his two girls and wouldn't want it any other way.
Dinah Jane was the baby girl of the group. The big girl had an even bigger heart for the world. The Polynesian always tried to see the good in situations. She also sang but didn't shoot for Chamber Choir nor anything else, she was too shy. Rather than Dinah go for lead roles in the theater program, she decided she'd just do tech instead. She had the potential to soar in so many things, but she just held herself back in the fear of failure.
"So babygirl, when you gonna try out for play ?" Kehlani questioned for the thousandth time that week.
The caramel girl rolled her eyes, "Lani, I told you. I'm not auditioning. I'm finally able to become the head of the Techies since Demi graduated, so I am taking full responsibility for it."
"Come on Dinah. You've been staring at the lead roles for too long. That's supposed to be you. You're the real star," Chance argued, making Kehlani nod in agreement, "You've gotta at least get a role this year. We're not accepting tech."
Kehlani clapped her hands and nodded in agreement. The two knew Dinah had it in her and were trying to break her out of this shy shell. She had the potential to do so much, yet she settled for so little.
"Guys please, I just want to be-"
The tattooed girl shook her head, "No."
Dinah turned towards her mixed friend, "Lani, but I don't-"
"Nope." Chance retorted, making Dinah looked over at him.
"Guys it's only for-"
The pair both responded in unison, "No Dinah."
Dinah groaned in defeat making the two cheer happily. It was senior year and they wanted Dinah to live it to the fullest. No more letting their friend settle for less.
"There you go Richie Rich ! Now get your ass down to the auditorium and sign up," Kehlani ruffled the girl's hair playfully, "Chano and I are gonna be at the library, aight ?"
