Within the next four hours I was back on the phone with Christofer.
"So, what do you do for fun anyways?" he giggles a bit.
He is absolutely adorable
I think to myself.
"Ummm... like..." what do I do for fun?
"Are you into reading or something?" he asks, trying to make it less awkward.
"Painting" I answer.
"My Moms an artist herself"
"That's awesome" I reply
He chuckles, "Alice, can I tell you something?"
"Anything" I reply quickly.
My heart beats faster than usual and my palm gets sweaty under the phone.
"I know I don't really know you.. at all. But I kind of have been thinking, and I like you.. I like you a lot" he chokes out.
"I like you too" I smile nervously.
Everything goes silent for a moment.
"You're an amazing girl, you know? You're sweet and beautiful and kind" He talks fast.
"T-thank you" I stutter a bit.
"Um, so like, where do you live again?" he asks.
"Denver, Colorado" I reply
"What if I could, like, visit you? like very very soon?"
"Id be very very pleased" I smile shyly on the other end.
"Like, next week.."
"Thatd be great"
By the end of the day we've been on the phone 9 hours and 45 minutes.
"Well.. goodnight" I say.
"Goodnight" He says
But neither one of us actually hangs up.
And I cant hear his breath getting heavier on the other end, which transitions into snoring in a quick 30 minutes.
I close my eyes.
The next thing I know I wake up to Christofers voice beaming through the phone, "Alice, Alicccce, wake up sweety"
I don't say anything, and he keeps trying till finally he says "I know you're asleep, and that's the point of saying this now.. I love you, Im almost sure of it" he gets a little quieter twords the end.
I finally decide to speak, "I love you too"
I don't know who's more shocked.
I expect him to hang up. But eight seconds later he says a little louder "what if I could be on a plane by tomorrow?" he asks.
"Well then tomorrow Id be a very happy girl"
"This is kind of crazy, you know?"
"I do" I answer honestly, because it really is crazy.
"I love you, Alice"
My heart jitters fast.
"I love you too.."
Thirty minutes later we say our goodbyes.
