What do you usually start with when introducing yourself to someone you don't know? You mostly say "hi" or "hello". Depends on whatever you like. So here are two people from Australia who would like to have a quick chat to show you what to start with.
Angie and Katy.
Angie: (tidying her hair then clearing her throat)
"Hello everyone. I'm Angie and I would like to show you the most common words we use in introduction in English. So here we go."
( Pulling her chair closer to the desk) "Hello, Katy. How are you?"
" Hi, Angie! I'm good and you?"
" Really good. So how was your day?"
" Meh..."
"You don't say "Meh" in introduction. CUT!"
"Sorry sir. I am used to that meh."
Then we started all over again and it ended perfectly. I know it was so awkward and embarrassing when I said that meh. I am used to it. It just popped from my mouth from nowhere. In my official language (Italian) we say meh a lot. It was all on air. How embarrassing. But I would be glad if they deleted the first one.
........................
"What does the word die mean?" Asked our English language teacher.
Everyone stayed still like monuments with wide eyes.
" Seniors? You don't even know what die is? Amazing. I pity you all in the examinations."
John Wellington raised his precious hand.
"Yes John?"
"Opposite of alive?"
"Ok. Good try. Anyone?"
She glared at me. I quickly changed my eye balls direction. Please no please no.
"Angie?"
I couldn't feel my heart beat anymore.
" End of one's life. Like, the person can't breathe anymore" I felt proud of releasing the words from my suffocated heart the entire time.
She stared blankly." Good try"
What? After all the energy I have spent on saying those precious words of mine, she said a good try. English is hard!
............Step back.........
It was 12 am.
"Angie, I will pick you up at 7.okay? Then I may cover you up of you FORGET to get your money with you.okay?"
"Alright. I won't forget"
"Pff" I always did.
" You mumble when someone asks for your name."
" I just won't concentrate"
I hanged up the phone as we said goodbye.
I laid down my worn out body on the bed and thought about our long long nineteen years old friendship of Katy and I. How amazing all the years we have spent together.....
Thats what i always do in my spare time. Think about olden times.
