Michael scurried out of the meeting room at the Nashua branch of the Dunder Mifflin Paper Company. The idea of Holly concerned him more than Pam making a good impression on the branch, especially since they weren't even supposed to present at this branch, but he was urging to reunite with Holly. His heart sunk when he heard that she was on a trip with H.R. that day, and that she has a boyfriend; AJ. Even though the thoughts of his true love recovering almost immediately after getting transferred from the Scranton branch gave him the feeling that he was drowning in reality, he still wanted to see her desk.
Her sweater hung over her chair and it made Michael's heart skip a beat. He grabbed the scissors off of the desk and cut the sleeve off of the sweater. After shoving it into his pocket he decided to take a quick peek at Holly's computer desktop. His eyes quickly scanned over the applications but paused on a single document that led him to a gasp. It was titled "Dear Michael". When he snapped out of his shock, Michael fished through the drawers and pencil cups on Holly's desk in hopes to find a flash drive. There in one of the drawers was a tiny flash drive. His hands shaking, Michael shoved the drive into the port and "stole" the document. Pam approached Michael from behind as he gently placed the flash drive into his pocket.
"I stole one of her documents," Michael blurted out.
"Oh, Michael. You have to put it back. You can't do that."
"No, I can't. Its titled 'Dear Michael'."
Pam sighed and they left the awkward crowd behind. They decided on a restaurant to go to and sat down together. Pam could tell that Michael was deeply impacted by the document. She couldn't exactly tell if he wanted to talk about it, but felt that she should address it.
"You know you can't read it. That would be invading her personal privacy."
Michael looked into her eyes and then back down at the counter. His eyes looked as if he was trying to hold back tears. Pam wasn't sure what to do next- Michael was such a character, and she always found him a little confusing. Suddenly, it came to her. She grabbed her laptop and held it in her lap.
"I could read it," Pam said.
She smiled as Michael's eyes lit up. Pam unzipped the case to her laptop and logged in. After inserting the flash drive into the laptop, she turned the laptop away from Michael to prevent him from reading the letter and began to read. Captivated by every word, she didn't take her eyes off of the screen. When she reached the end, she closed the laptop and turned to face Michael.
"Well, she still has feelings for you."
"Really," Michael questioned with hope glimmering in his eyes.
"Its not over yet, Michael."
Pam's words filled his head with happiness.
