"Come on Aunt Katie, just tell us a story" Lexi shouted across the fire pit. It was a nice summer night to roast some marshmallows, so I let Lexi bring over two of her friends Alex, and Bailey. Alex was about 7ish I would say, and she had long brown hair that went to the mid of her stomach. She always had a confused look on her face. Bailey on the other hand was probably about 7 to, but she had light blonde hair, and was always curious and bright. I looked over at Lexi, "Do you guys want some drinks, there's some lemonade in the fridge?" I said trying to change the subject. All three of them nodded their heads, so I walked inside to fetch some drinks. In the process of me walking to the house, I saw something move in the brush. I really didn't think anything of it, I just thought it was one of the stray cats around playing. So I continued inside. I went to the fridge to get the lemonade pitcher, there was a note on it. The note said "Put the necklace in the mailbox by 11:00." I was confused what necklace are then talking about. I looked at the time it was already 8:30. I called the girls inside, and told them to get ready for bed. "But Aunty, can't we please stay up a little longer, I'm not even tried." Lexi said looking at Alex and Bailey to agree with her. They just stood there looking around the house. "Lexi, I told you get ready for bed, then you guys are stay in your room, but if you get to loud, straight to bed missy you hear me" I told Lexi. "Okay Aunty" Lexi said looking at the ground. The three girls all went up stairs. I poured lemonade into three glasses then put it back into the fridge. I looked at the note once more. "Put the necklace in the mailbox by 11:00." "What necklace could this person be talking about" I wondered to myself. I threw the note into the trash, and turned around to see Alex behind me. "What can I do for you Alex?" I asked her. "Lexi told me to come down and get the drinks you poured us." She responded. "Oh, I will bring them up Alex it's okay" I told her. Alex ran up the stairs, back up to Lexi's room. I put all the drinks on to a tray, until a pebble or something hit the window. I looked out the window to try and see if I can see anything outside but I couldn't, it was already to dark. All I saw was my own reflection. I walked over to the front and back door to lock them. Then proceeded with bringing the drinks up to Lexi's room. While I was handing the drinks out to everyone, Bailey showed me a photo she found on the floor in the hallway. It was a picture of a necklace, and the necklace looked just like one that my grandmother gave me. "Goodnight girls, I will be down stairs if you need me" I told them, as I walked downstairs looking at the picture. Wondering to myself, "why would they want my grandmothers necklace" I sat down on the couch and started to read my book A Twist of Fate. It was one of my favorite books I was reading so far. As soon as I was just starting to get into the plot, a note slips under the door. I slowly walk over to it. "It is 10:00, one hour left, I would suggest giving the necklace up Katie." OMG THEY KNOW MY NAME. I start to run around the house locking all the windows, closing curtains. I pick up the photo of the necklace I put on the counter, and run upstairs to my room. Placing all on the jewelry I own on the floor and spreading it out. I look at the photo, look at all the jewelry till I found it. It was an old coin necklace with a golden chain. I pick it up off the floor and run downstairs stopping right in front of the door. "Wait" I say to myself. Quickly walking over it the kitchen I pick up a knife, and look at the time "10:54". Only got 6 more minutes left. I put in my shoes thinking if I need to get away fast, it would be easier with shoes on. Opening the door slowly I look to my right and my left. Then I bolted straight down the mailbox opening it up, putting the necklace in it and slamming it close again. I froze, I couldn't move, I was so scared. Once I heard a dog bark in the distance, I ran back to the house. Running inside and locking the door back up. Looking out the window I saw a black figure go to the mailbox. Then I was suddenly frightened but Lexi. "Omg Lexi, you scared me, what do you want you should be in bed." I asked Lexi, looking relieved. "Aunty, can I sleep with you tonight, I'm scared" she told me in a frighten voice. "Umm yeah, sure love come on lets go to bed." I told her taking her hand and walking upstairs to my room. Lexi and I got into my bed and covered up. She hugged me, "I love you Aunty" she whispered. "I love you to Lexi" I told her back. As soon as I was starting to fall asleep. A loud boom came from down stairs and people started running up stairs. There was lights flashing outside my window. I quickly got up and went into the hallway. The people went into Lexi's room. I followed it didn't seem like they wanted to hurt anyone. When I went into Lexi's room I saw Alex and Bailey were.. were um dead. They were covered up into their sleeping bags with stab wounds into their neck. I was mortified, by the scene "wtf happened" I asked myself. I walked out into the hallway, to find Lexi looking at me with a smile on her face. "Aunty, I just.. I just..I want to be normal, they kept saying my ears were to big, and that my neck was to long. I didn't want them to be my friends anymore." She said to me so innocently. I picked her up and ran down the stairs, grabbing my car keys. I bolted to the car, trying not to drop my little Lexi. I put her into the car and started the engine. We drove and drove till the car was out of gas. "Lexi, I don't care if you killed those girls. I love you for who you are and I am going to protect you everyday." Lexi climbed over to me and hugged me. "Love you Aunty" she said. I filled up the car and we kept driving and driving, I couldn't have anyone take my little Lexi away. I loved her to much......
