Chapter 2: Focus

Bright red eyes starred at me through the darkness and thick blanket of trees. I was cowered against a large oak tree, shaking and struggling to breath. My lungs felt like bricks and I was seeing black spots in floating in my eyes. I felt a piercing pain in my side, I saw the a humin and wolf hybrid, a werewolf, bitting my side. It's claws were plunged deep in my stomach and it's teeth in my side. I passed out from blood loss and pain.

I woke with a start remembering what had happened that night. I pressed the call button for the nurse, hoping it would be Melissa. I situatied myself back against the fluffy white pillows and pulled my blankets against my chest.

The door opened and Melissa stepped in, turning the light on. The flourescent lights burned my eyes. Behind Melissa was two guys, both looked about my age. One had tan skin and dark hair, the other had curly, dirty blonde hair, and high cheekbones and a sharp jaw.

"Hey, you're awake. This is Scott, my son," Melissa said pointiong to the dark haired one.

"And this is Isaac," She indicated to the curly haired one, who flashed me a smile that could make any girl go weak at the knees.

I gave a meak wave to both of them and turned my attention back to Melissa.

"Could I talk to you alone?" I answered quietly, suddenly feeling shy with the prescence of the two boys in the room.

"Uh, sure. Boys, wait outside." Melissa said in a light demanding tone, they stepped into the hallway, closing the door behind them.

"What is it dear?" She asked, sitting in the chair by my bed.

"I-I remember what happened." I stuttered.

"Oh?" She seemed suprised by my remembering.

"It was, uh, some kind of wolf thing." I whispered, feeling embarassed at the thought of mentioning it.

Melissa said nothing, but had a look of recognition on her face as she exited my room.

I felt myself zoning out, staring into space as I blocked out everything going on around me. I knew when I got home my father would be pissed, he probably didn't bother to answer the phone when the hospital called, he wouldn't bother to go looking for me in the night or day.

I was brought out of state of thought when the door opened and Melissa, followed by Isaac and Scott.

"Okay, I need you to listen to me, don't freak out or anything okay?" Melissa asked in a caring but demanding tone.

I nodded and felt Isaac staring at me as Scott took the seat by my bed.

"You weren't bitten by wolf that night, you were bitten by a werewolf." Melissa whispered, as she was hoping no one outside of my room would hear her.

I was dumbfounded by the words that left her mouth, all I did was stare at her.

"Isaac and Scott are werewolves, they won't hurt you, but they need to help you. Your bite isn't healing like theres did, both of their bites healed within in a few hours of recieving it. Yours should of healed by now, but it has made little progress." She said, taking a seat on the edge of my bed, causing me to cower further into the corner of the bed.

"You need to focus on the bit or it won't heal. If it doesn't heal within the next few days your body could reject the bite, which can make you very sick, or you could die from it." Scott said from beside the bed, eyeing me carefully.

"But... I don't want it." I whispered, not sure if they heard me or not.

"No one really wants it, but at this point you don't have much of a choice." Scott said in a genta voice.
