Hello guys! I'm aiming to write 700 or more words! Enjoy!
Mia's POV
I walked to school. After that incident with my mom 1 week ago, I was careful about using my phone in front of her. I made sure to use it until 5:00 pm when she usually comes home. After school ended, which I was happy yet sad, I headed to a cafe near my home. It was one block away which is great? Anyways i walked to the cafe with my heavy backpack on. I walked into the cafe, and a strong scent of coffee hit my nose. Ugh. I was disgusted by coffee. Sorry to the coffee lover, but it's too bitter. I had no choice but come here for this job, because it was the closest on to my home. I walked up to the clerk . . . Hannah.
"Hey Hannah, I want to apply for the job here," I said.
"Oh! Ok! Yeah, umm, wait here, I'll call the manager!" Hannah said, brightly. She dashed into the EMPLOYEE ONLY door. I took a seat at the table. This shop wasn't so bad. There was 8 round brown wooden tables with matching chairs. They sold croissants, brownies, cookies, and cake. This wasn't a bad place to work at. After that argument, I decided to find a job. I know that I have to focus on my studies, but just in case, I decided to get a job. So when I go to college I'll be good on my own. My twin sister, Ariel was always the one for studies. Meanwhile . . . I was just a disappointment.
"Hello, I brought the manager!" Said Hannah.
"Hello! My names Mia. I want to apply here," I said. I soon realized how stupid I was. They already knew I wanted to apply here.
"Haha. My names Tom and yes, you can apply here. just fill out the form and come see me for what days you can work," Tom the manager said. After filling out the paper and getting my work schedule sorted out, I started to get a tour on how things work. After a while I went home. I stood in the elevator, hoping my mom wasn't home. It was 5:47 pm, and my mom ended work already. I can't believe how caught up I was. My heart beated faster as I was outside the front door. I closed my eyes and opened the door. I slipped inside and tip toed to my room. I placed down my backpack and got out my math textbook and comp book. I was on the 6Th problem when my mom barged in. She slapped my head.
"Where were you?! It is already 6:00! Tell me!" She yelled. She kicked my stomach as I fell to the ground, clutching my stomach.
"I-I-I was here the whole time!" I said, in a shaky tone.
"Liar! Don't lie to me! I didn't see you here an hour ago!"she yelled, in my ear. I was scared. I couldn't speak, or else I would cry. A minute passed and she was getting more annoyed.
"Mia! Just saying I will kick you out of this house when you graduate college!" My mother shouted.
"Ungrateful child! I wish you never existed! Guess how much money I could have saved. You aren't in any AP classes! You are such a disgrace! You should be more like Ariel! You aren't even that pretty, and I would find it surprising if you even live a happy life and get married," she muttered. Honestly I heard enough of these lectures. I heard them every month but that didn't mean I wouldn't get hurt by it. After an hour passed, I sighed. I finished my homework and put everything away. I skipped dinner. I was hungry, but I didn't want to face my mother. I brought out the spam musubi Tom gave me for the first day of working. I ate it all and lied in bed. I heard Danny and Ariel laughing at the tv. A warm tear stroke down my face. I couldn't help it. Whenever I thought about my family . . . myself. It wasn't perfect. I wanted to be free from this curse. I was unlucky. If I wasn't born into this family where I wasn't allowed to play games or get a job (which I did get). If I was born into a rich family. Not a poor one. Everything would've been different. I could have a real laugh. Not fake it. As I got deeper into my thought I was thinking about suicide. But then again, I wasn't strong nor brave enough. I didn't live this long in hell to end it now.
