Chapter 1:

The tears streamed down my face as I stared out of the window in this cold lonely apartment. I'm lost, confused. I don't know where to turn anymore. I have no one. Well, I guess I did that to myself when I moved as far away from my family as possible when I turned 18.

"Hey, I'm leaving to go to the airport! I'll be back here after the break is up. You gonna be okay?" My roommate, Jackie, interrupted my thoughts.

I stood and walked over to her giving her a warm hug.

"Go, have fun. Don't worry about me, I'll be fine. I'll see you when you get back, have a safe flight," I told Jackie, giving her a small smile.

She nodded and sighed, grabbing her bag, slinging it over her shoulder. We had packed her car earlier this morning after we had breakfast.

I walked her out to the door and we hugged once more. I watched as she climbed in her car and waved goodbye before she drove off.

I walked back inside and returned to the seat in front of the window in my room, sighing at what I mess I was. Glancing at the time, I realized it was time to take my medication. Which, by the way, was something I dreaded. It always made me even more sleepy.

I slowly made my way back to the bathroom where I opened the medicine cabinet and pulled my pill bottle down. I always had a tough time trying to open it, so of course I struggled to pull the cap off. I twisted and turned, falling back a little before the cap popped open and pills scattered everywhere.

"Shit," I mumbled under my breath as I bent down. I picked up as many as I could see and put them back into its bottle. I grabbed two before closing the bottle back up and putting it away. I walked down the hall to the kitchen where I grabbed a bottle of water. I chucked the two pills in the back of my throat and swallowed it down with the water. Grabbing a blanket, I headed back to my room and over to my chair near the window. It seems I spent the majority of my time here nowadays.

The sky was dark, gray clouds covered the sky, it looked as if it were going to storm at any moment. I like storms, they let me know that even the sky screams sometimes. It was dark and dreary inside and outside, maybe I should change it up in here a bit. Then again, I have no desire to change. I don't care anymore. My phone chimed and I trudged over to my bed and grabbed it. New text from... my mom? She hasn't contacted me in two weeks. I clicked read and glanced at the text.

"Hi, Hunny. I hope you're doing okay. When you can, can you please call me? I miss you and love you.

Love always,

Mom"

I set my phone back down and climbed into my bed, curling up into a ball. My bed was big, cold, and empty. Sounds just like my life, right? I quickly drifted off to sleep, tossing and turning, trying to get comfortable. No use. It was around 6 pm when I woke up.

Suddenly I heard a knock on the door and I grunted before getting up to answer it. I climbed down from my bed, wrapping my blanket around me.

"Who's there?" I called out as I walked down the hallway towards the door.

No response.

As I reached the door, I hesitated before opening it.

"Hey, Hunny! Surprise!" My mother greeted me, throwing her arms around my waist.

"Mom? How did you get here?" I asked her, closing the door after she stepped inside.

"I drove here, silly! I texted you earlier but I didn't get a reply, I was worried.." She sighed, looking around.
