Chapter 2

HALLIE'S POV

I sat by the tree still with nothing to do but look around at the smaller kids on the playground. When the kids get bigger they usually stay inside. nmFor me its different, i have to be outside. I can't be cooped up.

"They're HERE!" Ms. Canine yelled. They children continues to play. When people come, thy just look at the kids in their rooms, outside and around the building then they pick a few to interview. Whoever they like most gets adopted. Me, ive only been interviewed five times. And I've been here since i was 8. Three years five interviews.

I sat and fiddled with my fingers until i heard my name being called.

"Yes ma'm?" I asked ms. Caine.

"This is mr. Payne and he would like to interview you." There stood the man who gave me the jacket, who i drew, who saw me outside of the orphanage!

He took me back with four other men, about age about 20-23.

"Hi Hallie!" Liam Smiled.

"Hi" is all i managed to get out.

I shivered as te vent ran past my small pJs.

"Wheres the jacket i have you sweet heart?" He asked. Might as well tell him right? Right?

"I hid it with my sketch book so no one stole it!" I mumbled but i know he understood it.

"So your not allowed out of here? Thats the real reason am i correct?" He is right. He is correct. I hope he doesn't tell ms. Caine.

I nod.

"Ok, so Hallie, im going to ask you a series of questions and you answer them to the beat of your ability." I nod at his request. Te four boys are silent sitting behind him.

L: What is your favorite food?

H: Tacos

L:What is your favorite thing to do?

H:Go outside and draw

L:What is your favorite color?

H: Orange

L: What is your favorite sport?

H: Football(soccer)

L:How old are you?

H: 11

L: What is your favorite animal?

H: Turtle

L:What is your favorite song?

H: Through te dark by this band, i don't know what they are called but i hear it on the radio at the donut sho

L:Are you comfortable talking with me?

That question threw me off. Am I?

H: I really don't know

He nodded signaling the conversation was over and i left.

What if he is gonna adopt me?

I went to the back of the orphanage and climb over the fence. If so, i need to get my stuff and move it closer!

I ran, letting the leaves and trees hit me on my way. I quickly grabbed my backpack, Sketch book, and jacket. After that i ran back setting them next to a tree where i can grab it from inside the fence. This is my procedure every time i get interviewed. i jut hope this one isn't for nothing.

LIAM'S POV

"Who do you guys think? Jasmine, Ally, or Hallie?" I asked. Those are the three we narrowed it down to.
