I was rung out of bed the next morning by an incessant blaring of my doorbell. Groaning I tumbled out of bed and walked to the front door, peeking through the window to see who it was.
Confused I opened the door to see Will, "This better be really good. You woke me up even before my alarm rang"
"I know, I'm sorry" he breathed, hugging me before stepping into the house.
"You're not sorry" I laughed, closing the door and rubbing my eyes.
"No I'm not. I had a stroke of genius" he said clapping his hands together. His hair was sticking out from under his beanie, his eyes gleaming with excitement as he sat down, before standing up again.
Turning on the coffee machine I hopped onto the counter, "enlighten me" I said, gesturing with my arm.
"Right. Eve and I's wedding anniversary is coming up. And I want to surprise her"
"Daw" I cooed, finally waking up as the scent of coffee rose into the air. Will's excitement was contagious. "And what do you have in mind?"
Will's smile fell as he crossed his arms, "I don't know. I haven't gotten that far" he grumbled.
I couldn't help the laugh that slipped past my lips, "You got this excited thinking about your upcoming wedding anniversary?" I asked, felling my heart swell for Will's love to Eve.
He had a sheepish look on his face as he got out two cups and the creamer, "I want it to be incredible for her. And I'm requesting your help. Honestly sometimes I feel like you're married to her and not me"
I grinned as I took the cup from him, "We've had a lot of stuff to discuss lately, that calls for a lot of girls' nights"
"Lots of stuff huh. Possibly about a tall, blonde man who happens to be my best friend?"
I chucked the small milk packet at him, squinting my eyes before taking a sip of the coffee, "no...maybe... its classified"
He threw back his head as he laughed, "Did you just quote Obama?"
"Stop laughing at me!" I scolded, but failed to maintain a straight face.
"I'm really happy for you guys."
I smiled at him, feeling the blush rise to my cheeks again, "I can't believe he's coming to Maine for me"
Will grinned his boyish smile as he gave me a side hug, "You deserve it Marnie. You both do"
Bumping my shoulder with his I cradled my cup between my heads, "Alright, do you have an idea of what you might want to do for the anniversary?" I asked.
"Something outside, I thought about going to the forest house, but that's more of our weekend getaway, nothing extraordinary you know?" he said, small wrinkles appearing on his forehead as he thought.
I had to smile as the image of the young boys in my class trying to impress their crushes popped in my mind. Their sincere concerned faces as they debated on which flower was the best to present never failed to break my heart. Will's equally concerned thoughtful face made me want to hug him.
"I have an idea" I suddenly said, setting down my cup and picking up my phone from the charger.

"If I hadn't married him, I would totally now" Eve gushed as she stood beside me in Lottie's cafe.
I had to smile at her excitement. She didn't even know what was yet to come.
