Chapter One

There was a stinging sensation right below Zakaria's elbow on his left arm. His sleeve is pulled up so he can locate it. He starts a little when he sees it because when did he get a tattoo? And of a heart shaped locket? It dawns on him then that he had just met his soulmate somewhere on this street. When someone meets their soulmate or they get to a certain age, 21, they get a tattoo on their arm of something pertaining to their soulmate. There are also people who have more than one soulmate tattoo and more than one soulmate. You can tell the difference between soulmate tattoos and regular tattoos because the soulmate tattoos almost seem to glow. Zakaria spins around trying to locate everyone he had any interaction with while he was on this street. An elderly man, a , a woman in her twenties,a twelve year old boy , and a guy in his twenties. Zakaria walks back the way he came and sees the woman in her twenties and the elderly man. So he thinks it's safe to say that his soulmate is the guy in his twenties. He finds both the guy in his twenties and the twelve year old boy at the same time. He sees the boy holding his arm and looking very confused. Zakaria's heart rate picks up. He looks at the other guy to see him buying a coffee with a calm smile. This could be completely coincidental. This has to be coincidental. Zakaria walks up to the other guy and smiles at him. "You didn't happen to have a soulmate tattoo show up on your arm within the last five minutes, did you?" Zakaria asks, his accent still rather thick. The guy in front of him looks confused as he shakes his head no. Zakaria sighs and nods solemnly before turning away. Maybe if he goes home he will end up meeting that kid again when it would be appropriate. He turns away and starts heading home when someone grabs his arm. Startled, he turns around to see a man and the twelve year old boy. "Can I help you?" Zakaria asks quickly, wanting nothing more than to just go home. "Did you just get a soulmate tattoo on your arm?" The man asks me quietly. "What's it to you?" Zakaria responds. The man pulls the kid closer to him and they move out of the middle of the walkway. "My son, he said his arm started to sting and then he had a soulmate tattoo on his arm when I looked. He said the only person he talked to was you."  The man informs Zakaria and he sighs. He pulls up his sleeve to partially show the heart shaped locket tattoo. The man pulls up the boys sleeve and Zakaria sees a tattoo of the broach his grandmother gave to him before she passed away. Zakaria looks at the boys face. "What's your Marie?" Zakaria asks and the boy says "Zion" quietly in response. Zakaria holds his hand out for Zion to shake - he does - and Zakaria says "Nice to meet you, Zion."
