Keagen and I were waiting on the icy curb for the white SUV to finally show up. Today we were supposed to go sledding with Meme, her mom, and Vice.
“I can’t wait for this! Last year I was sick all winter and I never got to play in the snow. But this is going to be great, I can’t wait to play with Meme!” Keagen smiled.
Keagen is kind of weird. Half the time he’s playful and harmless, but around certain types of people he is the most heartless person I’ve ever seen. Just like with those girls at Tech Smart. It doesn’t matter though because him and Vice are my best friends.
“They should be here any minute now right?” Keagen asked impatiently.
“Cool your jets man. Here, take this.” I said and passed him my joint. He inhaled deeply and rested his head on my shoulder.
“Today is going to be so fun, I just know it.”
“Hey that’s the car right? Toss that in the snow, you know how Meme is. Go air yourself out over there.” The white car pulled over and the back door flew open.
“Keag stop dancing around and get in the car. What’s up Damien my man?” Vice hollered. Keagen literally jumped into the back seat.
“I get to sit with Meme!” he said while he pulled her onto his lap. “Wow! You and Vice are wearing the same shirt, that’s so cute! I want to wear one too!” he buckled the seat belt over the both of them and I got into the front seat with her mom.
“The four of you are so cute together. How is your mom Keagen?” Meme’s mom asked.
“She’s great! Her arm is doing a lot better and Duke is finally in jail. We’re really happy, we even had a game night last week!” he gushed. Without looking I could tell Memiuex was really uncomfortable. Vice and Keagen were like a tag team, playing with her hair and giving her ‘free hugs’. They were doing everything in their power to cause her maximum awkwardness.
We pulled up to the sledding park. There were a lot of people here today, but there would be enough room for us.
“I’m going to the lodge to read a book. You kids have fun and be careful.” Her mom said before Vice could burst out of the car. Keagen and Meme struggled with their seat belts, and finally they fell out of the car.
“Gosh, I’m so sorry Keagen!” She said trying to get up, but Keag was stuck on top of her. He sat up quickly and dusted her off.
“Heh no problem, it was my fault anyway. Let’s get the sleds out! You can be my sled buddy Meme, I want to go down the big hill!” Keagen sounded like a little kid, he just can’t control himself around Meme. He grabbed her hand and led her to the trunk.
“No way, she’s riding with me!” Vice grabbed her other hand. I took out the smallest sled from the back and lit up a cigarette.
“Come on Memiuex, you’re riding with me.” I slung my arm around her and we walked up the giant hill.
“Don’t try to act like such a badass, and we get her next round Damien!” Vice shouted after us. They punched each other until they got bored and started to pull each other around the parking lot on the sleds.
