Pink rain boots splashed the puddles around them. As the young girl jumped from puddle to puddle, giggles escaped her mouth. Her raincoat was falling off and her pretty pink shirt was showing. She laughed as her friends ran up. Her best friend, Jacob, ran up with his red raincoat. They joked and laughed until they reached the girls house.
"Bye Raykel," Jacob yells to the girl as she walks inside. She waves to him as she steps inside and her mother greets her with a sliced apple.
"No! Poison!" She screeches and knocks the plate onto the floor. Her mother laughed and picked up the apple slices off the floor.
"You need to stop reading stories young lady," her mother scolded as Raykel took off her jacket and rain boots.
"Okay momma," she says and walks to her room to read more fairy tales. She picks up her favorite story. Snow White and the Seven Dwarves. She smiles and opens the book. After she finished she noticed something new in the back. As a second grader, her curiosity got the best of her. She opened the pink envelope and pulled out a picture. It was her. She was older and was wearing a hot pink jacket. The older version of her was next to a young man wearing a red jacket. He looked a lot like Jacob. She put the picture back and as the envelope was closed she felt a rush of wind. She shook it off as if nothing happened and put the book back. Her second favorite story was right next to her bed. Little Red Riding Hood. She picked it up and the same envelope was in the back of this story too. This envelope was red and she couldn't open it. She decided to take it to school the next day to show Jacob. Raykel set the book down and turned off her light. As she drifted off to sleep she thought about all her favorite fairy tales. She dreamed about what life would be like if they were real. She drifted off to sleep with a smile on her face.
