Chapter One: No Hope For Humanity
So here I am.
Sitting in the back of my dad's Corolla, wedged in between my twin brother and my little sister.
I never agreed to this. Whose idea was this anyway? Leaving behind our great life in New York for LA. It's strange how my dad was apparently offered a 'really well-paying important' job right after it happened. Sometimes I break down in tears just thinking about it. I guess we moved because we had to escape from it all. It was becoming too much, especially for my parents, and us being there made it hard to forget.
"Brooklyn? Brooklyn? Are you listening to me?" My mother half-yelled breaking me from my train of thought. "I said you're going to love it here!"
My brother snorted.
"Yeah, okay mom." I commented sarcastically.
"Are we there yet?" Harlem moaned.
Yes my brother is called Harlem and my name is Brooklyn, If you haven't already realised that we're named after parts of New York. Did I mention that my parents were crazy? My parents must have regained their sanity when they had my sister, Molly.
The journey was mostly silent, apart from Harlem's occasional grunting and laughing at his phone, Molly's Justin Bieber songs blasting through her earphones and my parent's sad attempts to make conversation with us.
"We're almost here," My father began proudly as we drove by houses that just kept getting bigger the further we went. "Things are going to be very different for us here. Very." He said, earning a kiss on the cheek from my mother as we parked in front of the biggest house I had ever seen.
This house had everything, I felt like a Stoner presenter and a camera crew would just jump out in front of us and yell 'You've been Prank'd!'. Our new house was almost a mansion, it had 4 master bedrooms, 2 guest rooms, a large kitchen, 2 dining rooms, an office, a pool, a pool house, a tennis court and a lot of other pointless rooms that we really did not need.
"Dibs on the biggest room!" Molly screeched a little too excitedly as she ran off up the grand staircase. (Another thing that was totally unnecessary).
"No way funsize, not if I can help it!" A determined Harlem shouted, mimicking my 13 year old sister.
I groaned. This was what I had to deal with everyday. I felt like their low IQ's were going to infect me.
My mother turned to me, my feet glued to the staircase. "So....... What do you think?!" A grin plastered on her pale face.
"It's something." I told her, keeping a pokerface.
She didn't say much after that but the smile on her face seemed to have dissolved. I didn't think much of it and walked away, deep in my thoughts, looking for my room.
What I came across was not a bedroom. It was like a magical land where fairies and unicorns all came to play and make dreams come true. Mine certainly had because this was the room I had always wanted. It had red and white striped walls that made the area seem endless, sleek black furniture, a rotating closet - very similar to Hannah Montana's -, a king sized waterbed with a custom black floral headboard, a skylight that took up most of the ceiling and a television as big as Barney Stinson's. My life was complete. As I sat on a black fluffy rug, drooling over how comfortable It was I hadn't realised that Harlem and Molly were standing right beside me.
"Aaaah!" I screamed.
"Aaaah!" They screamed.
"Aaaah!" I screamed.
"Aa-" Molly started.
"Stop screaming." Harlem said staring at us an 'I'm gonna kill you if you don't shut up' way.
"Sowwy" Molly and I said in unison.
"Now get dressed because we're going out for dinner, don't worry, mom and dad aren't coming" Harlem told me, grinning like he'd done something fantastic. Sometimes I wonder about him.
"Hurry up Murray!" Molly added.
If her generation is the future then there is no hope for humanity.
I jumped up, "Fine, just let me get changed."
I looked around the room for where dad had placed my suitcase. Of course it would be under the bed! Classic dad, put it where I won't see it. I put the suitcase on my bed, watching it wobble around because of the water. I opened it and settled on my outfit, a baby blue day dress, dip dyed denim jacket and gold strappy sandals - silently thanking myself for remembering to shave my legs - I had to look like I wasn't thinking about crawling into the foetal position and crying in the shower.
"Isn't that dress a little short?" Captain protective older brother suggested.
"Haven't you left yet? I'm trying to get dressed here."
"I'm just giving you a bit of advice," He rolled his eyes as he left "Women."
* * *
I looked around the warm restaurant, my tummy rumbling. I was definitely in the mood for sushi.
We must have looked like a young couple, Harlem and I, Molly being our child because we were getting a lot of stares. Mainly from random women, eyes on Harlem like he was a piece of meat. It made me feel out of place but he seemed to be enjoying it, occasionally winking and waving. Molly was oblivious to the whole situation because she was currently explaining to us how she had a 'totes brilliant and amazeball plan' to get popular and have all the kids at her new school worshipping the ground she walks on, in just a maximum of two weeks. I was happy to listen to her as I could still engulf the food on my plate and all I had to was nod every few minutes.
"Anything else?" The waitress asked smiling at Harlem possibly in an attempt to also flirt with him.
Harlem returned the favour, "Can I get a Multi Orgasm Roll... Demi?" Pretending to read her nametag. He was terrible at flirting.
"Ew! Harlem what is wrong with you?!" Molly half-yelled, leaning over to punch his arm.
He glared at Molly.
Demi giggled, "Ooh, Harlem." She seemed to be enjoying this, a little too much.
"Can I just get an Oreo Milkshake please? To go." I asked, wanting to end this whole situation.
Her gaze could have burnt my soul.
"Demi, There you are! Table 2 have been waiting for you for 10 minutes." Another waitress began saying to Demi. She and Demi were very different.
This new waitress, Arianna (written on her nametag) had long dyed red hair. She had a petite figure, tanned skin and looked very innocent whereas Demi had a dark hair and pale skin, but seemed to have curves in all the right places.
"Can't you take them? I'm a little busy."
Arianna seemed sympathetic. "Okay, but you owe me." She sighed, making her way over to a group of attractive teens.
"We should get going, school tomorrow." Harlem mumbled.
Molly chatted away all through the ride home, mainly about the earlier events of the night. I had a simple solution.
Drown her out with Rock music.

>Multi Orgasm Roll- It sounds weird I know, but most Directioners (that have Instagram) will know that Harry posted a picture of a sushi menu and the 'Multi Orgasm Roll' was on it. This was meant to be a joke, excuse me dry humour ^_^
