I could hold him here for another two hours. Shane offered. Time enough to get some stuff at your place and go to Nickys. He will never find out where you are. Shane smiled at me. Thanks, bro, I owe you one. Nicky smiled and grabbed his mobile and his jacket. Let's go. He smiled at me. Shane, could you mention in his presence that she is at the shelter? He asked Shane. Sure, no problem. Shane laughed.

Then Nicky looked at me because I was still on my stool. Had I lost my mind? I thought. Had I just agreed in going home with him? Why was he so nice? I wondered what he wanted in return. Nobody was just nice. Everyone wanted something back. But I had no other option. I got up and followed him to the door. I didn't say anything when we walked to my appartment. I put all of my belongings into my suitcase. I was ashamed of my small appartment and that all of my stuff fit in one single suitcase. I just had not much. Nicky waited patiently while he looked out of the window onto the street. Take your time we have still 90 minutes left until Shane has to let him go. He said. I have everything. I whispered and lifted the suitcase easily. He smiled at me and took it out of my hands. Thank you. I whispered. For everything.... He just nodded and then we walked to the parking lot of the police.

An old Ford Mustang? I smiled when I saw his car. He smiled back. Yes, I love it. He chuckled. He put my suitcase into the trunc and opened the passengers door for me. Thanks. I whispered and got in. I tried to calm my breath when he started the car. Is everything alright? He asked me. I bit my lip. It was too much today. I sighed. Understandable. He said after a while. I hope you can relax soon. He said. I tried to but I failed. He won't find you. Nicky said when he saw my panick. I knew that but I just couldn't tell him that it was him that made me nervous. He was so nice and maybe that was the reason he helped me. But my life had tought me that nobody was just nice.

And here we have your room. Nicky smiled when he put my suitcase on the bed. He opened the window. If you listen carefully you can hear the ocean. He smiled. Are you hungry? I could make us some pasta. He offered. The nicer he was, the more miserable I got. I smiled weakly and nodded. That would be nice. I whispered. He went to the door. Okay then... I make some food and you relax, okay? Just make yourself at home! He said and went out of the room. My heart was racing and I sat down on the bed. I looked around. It was a cosy room with light yellow walls and a picture of the ocean above the big bed. The white curtains were softly drifting in the light wind. I walked to a door and opened it. I even had my own bathroom. I grabbed some fresh clothes of my suitcase and tiptoed to the bathroom. I locked the door and took a hot shower. The warm water on my skin relaxed my uptight muscles.

Oh just in time. Nicky smiled when I came into the kitchen. It smells wonderful. I said and looked around. Can I help you somehow? I asked. If you don't mind you could bring the dishes to the table on the terrace. He answered. No problem. I said and went outside. You have a wonderful appartment. I said when I came back. Thanks. It was my grandparents appartment and I got it after.... He said with a sad smile on his face. I'm so sorry... I whispered. You didn't know it. He smiled and took the pasta. Let's go eating. He said.

He put me at ease during dinner and our conversation that came afterwards. But as soon as was in my room and it was dark, the panick came back. What if he would come to me this night and wanted a favour in return for having me here. What if he wasn't as nice as he played? It was absolutely silent, I could only hear the sea in the distance. There were several noises I didn't know but most of the time it was quiet. I laid in my bed curled up under the blanket and waited for the unevitable. Hour after hour passed and nothing happened. My heart slowly calmed down and at dawn in the early morning I was so tired that I fell in a deep sleep.
