Lucas Andrew entered his house after a long day of work. He walked into the living room to see, Emily Cooper. The girl his brother refused to help,  the girl he’s slowly been falling in love with the past 3 months that he’s been acting as her guard. She was sleeping. She looked so peaceful, beautiful and upon closer inspection... broken? Why? Was his only thought. What reason does such a innocent girl have for being broken?

He’s noticed it since he met her. The broken look in her eyes, the tears on her face each time he walks into her room in the middle of the night to make sure she’s alright and her silent cries before she falls asleep. He wondered why she didn’t go to the spare room  (her room) to take a nap. Then he saw it. The book on the floor and the pen in her hand.

He knew he shouldn’t but he wanted to know more about her. He silently walk over towards her and lifted her up, taking her to the spare room. He took the pen out of her hand placing it on the side table. He silently moved through the house back to the living room. He carefully took the book into his hands, sat on the couch, and began reading her near cursive writing.

The Truth About My Mind
By: Emily Cooper

It’s sad how people claim to love and care about you and yet they replace you so quickly.

Never trust a person that has let you down more than 2 times. Once was a warning, twice was a lesson, and anything more than that is simply taking advantage.

Never trust anyone but yourself! When you start to trust other people that’s when they stab you in the back and leave you to slowly die! ALONE

Never trust anyone but yourself, because in the end that’s all you’re going to have: YOURSELF.

Every time I trust someone new, they end up reminding me why I shouldn’t trust anyone at all.

🐍 KEEP CALM AND NEVER TRUST ANYONE🐍

Don’t depend so much on anyone in this world... Because even your SHADOW LEAVES you when you’re in DARKNESS

Be careful who you share your weaknesses with. Some people can’t wait to use them against you.

Confidence... NEVER let them see you sweat.

😢 Never trust anyone. They all betray you in the end. 💔

I’ve never shown my weakness, I will never show my weakness.

I will never show weakness. I will never give anyone the power to completely destroy me.

😨 Never show your intimidated, it shows weakness.😨

Never show your weakness to the world. Because the world is much to interested to play with it.

Emotions are a sign of weakness to me. And weak is the last thing I can be.

“Emotions are weakness that should never be shown.” That’s what I was taught growing up. That’s why I hold it all in.

I’m done with emotions and feelings. They are exactly what’s making me weak. There is no space for weakness in this world. It’s the weak that get stomped out.

She got quieter, her nights got longer, her blades got bigger, her sleeves got longer, her meals became smaller, she became skinnier, her music got louder and no one noticed.

The best way not to get your heart broken, is to pretend you don’t have one.

I was a dreamer before you went and let me down.

I always joke about being alone forever but I really do believe there isn’t someone out there for me.

So after a lot of thinking I am done with guys. Being alone is my only option of not being used . HAVE A GOODNIGHT!

SOMETIMES I WONDER IF I WILL EVER BE HAPPY WITH MYSELF. I WORRY THAT IF I CAN’T BE HAPPY WITH MYSELF, THEN NOBODY WILL EVER BE HAPPY WITH ME, AND THAT JUST MAKES ME EVEN MORE PARANOID. IT’S A CYCLE, INSECURITY, UN CONFIDENCE, AND DIFFERENCE.  IT’S ALL A CYCLE AND IT’S DESTROYING ME.

I’m actually destined to be alone. Whenever I’m interested in someone, they have no interest in me. Whenever someone is interested in me I have no interest in them.

Okay I’m officially in the acceptance phase. I accept the fact that I am not a girl suitable for a relationship and I am destined to be alone. Thank you everyone for your time.

Every time I get close to a guy I freak out and just seem to push them away. I guess that I’m destined to be alone

Destined to be alone... Destined to be hurt... I never believed in destiny, yet, this, is what I’m meant to be.

I guess I’m destined to be alone. I never seem to be good enough.

I was destined to be alone, it’s fine with me. I was born alone. I’m going to die alone.

She hurts and she cries, but you can’t see the depression in her eyes. Because she just smiles.

Breaking my heart wasn’t the only thing you did when you left ...You shattered my dreams and destroyed my world.

Every thought I is a battle, every breath is a war, and I don’t think I’m winning anymore.

Lucas could not believe his eyes. He never thought that one person could be so broken. He looked back to the book in his hands. The newest, unlike the others written in black,  was written in red ink and underlined. What did it mean? He read the last quote and it immediately made sense.

They’ll check your wrist,  but not your thighs. They’ll check your smile but not your eyes. They’ll avoid the truth. Believe the lies.

His blood ran cold. Suicide note? No surely she wouldn’t... Would she? No. She’s an actor she has her whole life in front of her. She’s only three years younger than him but still... No he can’t take the chance. He’ll borrow a baby monitor from Jeremy’s sister the moment there’s a movement in her room he will know. He’s a light sleeper he’ll immediately wake up.

He stood up and walked to her room he knew he shouldn’t but it was for good cause. He knew where to look. The quote gave the answer away. Slowly so she would not wake he lifted her skirt to see the legs he thought flawless covered in scars. Judging by how they looked the oldest looked ten years old. She’s been cutting since high school?  What could possibly have broken her? He set the book next to the pen and exited the room.

Her alarm ran through the house. He listened to her footsteps moving across the room. He was in his room. He wanted to act like he wasn’t home. The front door closed and he watched her walk away from the window. Once she was off the street he started making the way to Jeremy’s sister, all the while thinking about Emily. He said one sentence to himself;

“My dear Emily, you couldn’t be farther from the truth...”
