Darkness surrounds us all; every one of us has a little bit of darkness inside. It’s when the darkness grows so intense and sinister that the person’s soul becomes corrupt and evil. But they can change their ways, they’re not destined to be forever full of evil, mortals can simply banish the darkness if they want too.
That’s the thing that I will never understand about mortals: how they can just cleanse themselves of their darkness.
Although Mortals can expel their inner darkness, they must live with the guilt forever. Me, well I have nothing to be guilty for, I’m full of darkness that can’t be erased no matter what, I was made to kill. I’m a killer. My ways would never be justified mortals and vampires had nothing in common. At least I thought we didn’t.
The moon had hit its highest point in the dark night sky. For a winter night it was cool, not to hot not to cold, a perfect night for a hunt.
It was the same as any other night; I was sitting on the swings at the local park. I really don’t get why vampires are stereotyped to hunt at the cemetery. No one goes to the cemetery at night time!
A gentle breeze picked up a flyer for a missing person –last weeks meal.
As if on queue a young teenage guy came towards me smirking, his hands deep in his denim pockets trying to keep them warm.
“What’s a pretty girl like you doing out all alone on a dark night?” He asked huskily taking a seat on the swing next to me which creaked customizing to his wait.
“I’m not alone now.” I said sweetly flushing him a shy smile.
He replied with a smirk and stood up to his full height, a whole two heads taller then me.
He extended his hand.
And I took it.
He put his hands on my waist. I got up on my toes and made it seem like I was putting my head in the crock of his neck, but when I heard him sigh I took a bite forcefully into his pulsing vein. He shrieked in surprise as we sunk to the ground. At first he fought it, but then he gave in and just stopped. No fun at all. I loved it when they put up a good fight.
I ripped his neck open, his warm blood dribbled down my chin. I could feel the life draining from him and flowing through me. He let out a final defeated moan as he collapsed in my arms as a lifeless corpse.
I gave up on sucking out his remaining blood, picked up his heavy body carrying it towards the big waste bin and with one swift throw, he was in.
My favourite blue hoodie was covered with blood. I sighed taking it off. I whipped the blood off my face and threw the hoodie in with the body.
I closed the bin and that was that.
