Analysing quote after quote did not tickle Alexa's creative fancy. As an aspiring writer, she did know authors did use some words for a specific purpose. But she also knew that sometimes the purple carpet was just that, a purple carpet.
So, as Alexa's mind wandered to doodling on the corner of her page, she found herself listening in on the conversations around her. A boy named Jack was incredibly excited for his lacrosse tryouts, she didn't need to be what she is in order to know that. However, Scott's friend seemed to think Jack might need to be a bit more anxious.
"Seriously," the lanky boy said to Scott, who couldn't seem less interested. "If he gets on the team and I don't... look it's bad enough Greenberg has been on the field more times that me this year."
Scott rose an eyebrow at him. "Stiles, it's the first day."
Who names their kid Stiles, Alexa involuntarily thought. Her lips pursed together to stop her from laughing and she leant backwards, continuing to doodle. It wasn't just the name that made her amused, it was the fact the boy was waved over with jealousy. Trivial things, Alexa seemed to find, almost always had the best feelings surrounding them.
However, having Scott as an acquaintance had made Alexa take pity on the boy. She found herself chucking away some of the jealousy and replacing it with some belief in himself. Out of the corner of her eye she noticed the boy sit up a little taller with a smile.
"You know what, I'm going to get on the team this year. I just know it." Stiles told his friend who smiled at his sudden burst of confidence. It also made Alexa grin, she liked using her powers for good. She'd read a quote somewhere when she was little about one small action could have big consequences, so she tried to make sure her actions were for the greater good.
The dark haired girls mood dwindled abruptly upon seeing the brunette in front of Scott eyeing her hand under the desk. Alexa had a bad habit of using her hands to stable emotions when manipulating them. It was something she'd picked up from her first instructor and had since then struggled to throw it away along with the emotions.
The girls newly manicured hand recoiled and placed itself on her sheet. At that the brunette looked up so she could meet Alexa's own gaze. The corner of the girls mouth twitched up in an attempt at a smile but Alexa could tell she was unsure of her.
The girl, like Scott and Stiles, had brown hair. It was short, but not enough to be classed as a bob, and her locks seemed to be a bit, well, everywhere. Alexa was quite jealous herself that the girl still seemingly look perfect. If she didn't have such a petite face, Alexa noted, perhaps it wouldn't suit her so much.
"Alexa," the girl shrugged, offering out her name in a way of friendship rather than intrigue. Keeping her hands on the desk, the one she'd previously used scrunched up, Alexa attempted to drain the suspicion out of the girl.
Eventually her smile became real and she whispered back. "Allison."
Alexa's pursed lips twirled up into a grin. She had not come to Beacon Hills with the intention of making friends but she figured it couldn't help. Her only other friends were the twins, and they were more of her allies anyway. The friendship was forced on them pretty suddenly as well, thanks to Deucalion's threats metaphorically turning Alexa to, what she'd deemed, the bad side.
Neither of the three people who's names she'd discovered during class had been that bad looking either, which was only a bonus. It didn't matter, however, as she'd created somewhat of an understanding with Aiden. They would be there for each other in ways nobody else could give to them... basically, Alexa swallowed vomit at the thought, they were 'fuck buddies'.
