Mary Jane

Is a girl he used to know

the one that drove him mad

And yet still he fell in love.

She knew how to calm him sometimes

How to love him most times

And she made him hungry

For her affection

She cooked him sometimes

I mean cooked for him sometimes.

She was there when the anxiety kickstarted

When his depression bombarded, his brain

she made everyday life easier

on those days he thought he wasn't worth living another day.

And yet she did him harm

Calmed him down a bit and cleared his mind

completely, almost to the point where he didn't seem like himself

So he learned the bad way that it was time to let her go.

Because bloodshot eyes were not the signs of love

and sleepless nights were not the invitation to bring upon him her damnation

in a calmly manner

as she always did

as he realized that she was making him sick and not better

he decides to let her see others.

So Mary Jane

became the name of a girl he used to know

the one that drove him mad

and yet still, he fell in love.
