Everyday is the same.
I sit out here in my poorly built tin roofed hut. Hugging my legs close to my chest to suppress the hunger and thirst my body desperately needs. I stare off into the distance thinking about when was the last time I've eaten or drank clean sanitized water.
Whenever I scavenged for food, I would give it to mostly to the other homeless kids I'm with. The other kids would be concerned for my well being since I was the one who scavenged for the food, but I reassure them with a bright smile and said that I ate a small bit — — even though I haven't taken a bite yet. I was the reason why these kids were alive.
I lag over to my small tin hut and lay on the cold dirt floor, hugging my legs once again. I close my eyes and this unusual pleasant pain came from my heart. I smile because this was the only thing that kept me happy. This wavering bitter smile that was on my face helps me from crying.
Whenever there were times when I needed to cry, I would run off to a desolate area and let my emotions run amok before crying. I first smile the tears away before my tears gave way. Just when I am borderline about to cry, I laugh the tears away. I laugh because I know I'm trying my best, but what else can I do? Then my laughter becomes sobs and then my voice cracks. I let out broken "help me's" as I cried out for salvation even though I know, no miracle well happen for a person like me.
One day, our poor and degenerate lives took a turn for both the worst and the best.
A wooden carriage that was drawn by two horses, came into town. People gather around this carriage and they were chanting a name. A name everyone knew, except for us.
"Princess Amane! Princess Amane!" They all chant.
The carriage comes to a stop and the carriage door swings wide open. From the doorway, a young lady with long silver hair and green eyes. She waves and greets the people with a dazzling smile.
Her soft smile brings peace to the townspeople. Her light laughter fills them with joy.
"Greetings townspeople. I'm glad everyone's doing okay." She glances toward the kids and I, but I didn't react to it, except for one of the kids who for some reason, didn't like her.
He ran up to the crowd, picked up a handful of dirt and tosses it toward the Princess.
With the guards keeping a look out, one manages to see the boys ill intention and gets in between him and the Princess. "Princess Amane! Watch out!"
When the boy threw the mud pile in his hand, the guard ran in between the Princess and the flying projectile to protect her.
"I hate you! You nobles are just sitting back doing nothing while we try to struggle to live another day."
"You insolent little swine!! How dare you raise your hand against the Princess. For that, we will execute you! Seize that boy!"
The townspeople all grabs him and pins him down to the ground.
"Off with your head!!" The guard unsheathe who's sword and prepares to execute him.
Not on my watch!
"Tazuna! Wait!" All the other kids tried to stop me, but I ran in to stop him.
