Happiness. That is what entered Faith's mind as she awoke from her bed. She was happy just to be there; to be alive. On the surface, she would have been dead; but no, down here, she can actually live. Live! Faith climb out of her bed and walked to the door of her room. She turned back around to look at it. To think, this room wasn't here before she fell. "Gee, that felt like it was just yesterday..." she thought as she opened the door to leave. She shut the door behind her and walked down the hallway. She walked down the stairs to be greeted by her favorite monsters.
"HELLO, HUMAN!" Papyrus said, waving to her. "DID YOU HAVE A NICE SLEEP?"
"Yeah, it was okay." Faith said, walking towards the kitchen. She sniffed the air and knew what was for breakfast. Burnt spaghetti.
"Breakfast spaghetti?" Faith asked nervously, putting a wobbly smile on her face.
"WHY YES, OF COURSE! UNFORTUNATELY, SANS ISN'T HERE AT THE MOMENT. HE SAID HE HAD TO RUN BY LADY ASGORE'S HOUSE AND DO SOMETHING." Papyrus replied, grabbing a plate from the cabinet above the stove. Opening the pot, he place a huge pile of spaghetti on Faith's plate. "She always did like my cooking. I'm sure she won't mind having a bit of San's helping he said he was hungry for..." he thought as he placed the plate on the table where Faith decided to sit.
"ENJOY, HUMAN!" he said, smiling from ear to nonexistent ear.
"Um...thanks, Papy! This looks...um..delicious! Those lessons are really paying off!" She said, trying as much as possible to sound like she really wanted it.
"I TRIED SOMETHING NEW WITH IT THIS TIME. SEE IF YOU CAN TELL WHAT I ADDED!" Papyrus added, bouncing on the balls of his feet.
Cautiously, Faith picked up her fork. Suddenly, Sans appeared in the kitchen with a flash. "Thank goodness! Saved by the pun master!!" she thought as she put her fork down and stood up.
"hey kiddo, paps. long time no see." Sans said, walking over to Papyrus. "you guys eating some breakfast?"
When Sans looked at the huge plate of spaghetti that Faith sat back down in front of, his pupils vanished. He and the kid both knew that no one could finish that much of Papyrus' spaghetti.
"WHY YES! THE HUMAN WAS JUST ABOUT TO TASTE TEST A NEW RECIPE FOR SPAGHETTI UNDYNE TAUGHT ME! GO AHEAD, FAITH" Papyrus said, smiling.
"Well...uh...should Sans get his portion back? I mean, I 'm SURE he must be VERY HUNGRY right now." Faith said, looking over at Sans with a forced smile. Sans knew what she was doing, he just had to get out of it.
"no thanks. i got a little bite to eat at tori's place before i came back." Sans said, his eyes darting across the room.
"VERY WELL THEN! IT'S ALL YOURS, HUMAN! TELL ME WHAT YOU THINK!" Papyrus said, eager to hear what she would say.
Taking a deep breath, Faith picked up the fork and stuck it into the spaghetti. Twirling the fork around, she picked up a big portion of the spaghetti with the fork. She looked over at Sans and saw that he was as worried as she was. Taking another deep breath, she shoved the forkful into her mouth, shocking Sans. Starting to chew up the burnt pasta, she realized what the new spice was.
Pepper.
A Bhut Jolokia, to be exact.
Without a choice, she swallowed.
"WELL???" Papyrus said, beaming. "HOW IS IT? WHAT DO YOU THINK THE NEW INGREDIENT WAS?!?!"
"Hot." Faith replied, starting to sweat.
"what." Sans asked, confused.
"Pappy, do you know what a bhut jolokia is?" she asked.
"NO, WHAT IS IT?"
"It is one of the hottest known peppers to ever exist."
"THAT WAS THE INGREDIENT! HOW DID IT TASTE?"
"Like a party was happening in my mouth and is moving to my stomach."
"YOU LOVE IT?!? NYEH HEH HEH!!! THANK YOU! I'LL MAKE SURE TO MAKE IT MORE OFTEN, THEN!'
With that, Papyrus walked away, going upstairs to clean up from his cooking. Sans just stared at Faith for a few seconds.
"...how bad is it?"
"..."
"uh, kid" he asked, poking the frozen human.
"There are no words to describe how much pain I am in right know other than; pass me the milk."
"wait, what?"
Running across the room, Faith threw open the refrigerator door, took out the gallon of milk, and chugged it, only for it to spill all over her pajamas. Relaxed, she threw the empty cartoon in the trash and got out some paper towels.
"At least he's adding FLAMING good taste to it. I can really feel his BURN passion for cooking." Faith said with a grin.
"i have taught you well." Sans said, helping her to clean up before Papyrus came back down.
