Zach was a little disappointed that Caine's late night somehow made for him to disappear without a message back for two weeks. Though, during that time he got the job at they store he wanted to work at. He went through training and orientation all during that time he had off from talking to Caine. One day he was about ready to go to work when his facebook blinged.

"Shit, I am really terrible at consistently having a conversation on this god-forsaken website. Don't worry, if you're not busy later, I don't have anything to do." The reply made Zach's heart drop. He had to work or he would have stayed and talked for hours whenever he could.

"i work until 5" then he sent a sad emoji. There was a short break until he got a response, honestly the only reason he ever left facebook open anymore. He was curious if he really started wanting to have this guys company.

On the little chat box was a picture of a  very soft and fluffy black and white cat nuzzled against a pair of dark blue jeans, a hand with a scar moving from the right side of the lower wrist (about an inch down from the end of the palm going over said wrist and up towards his thumb) petting it and it looking unbelievably happy. "The pussy says you should ditch, but I guess I'll just have to wait until five to talk to you."

Zach was curious if that was Caine's wrist or someone else's. He ignored it since it seemed like something you shouldn't point out right after a joke. "well i guess ill accept pussy's opinion but do what i needa anyway" He smiled a little. "you have a cat?" The question was more of a surprised statement with a question mark.

The response, yet again, was fast. Zach wondered if Caine was just being a slow asshole before. "Yeah, his name is Captain Spaulding. We call him Captain for short. I should probably get my stuff done. I have to leave the house for kid-related reasons." He seemed to be displeased with the fact that he had said kid-related reasons.

Zach said goodbye to his friend and closed his facebook,  finished getting dressed and went to work. The day was slow for most of it, and towards the end, it started picking up. He had only about an hour left of his shift...which basically meant two or three more larger carts worth of people.

He didn't have anyone at the time when he saw a young boy at about thirteen come up with a large smile. He had a cart worth, actually, two when another boy pushed a second less full cart over. He looked at the boys, trying to figure out what two kids were doing with this much stuff when the two adults in the group made their way over from another part of the store and Zach nearly screamed when he looked over.

The man who was standing there was Caine Donaghue. His greyish green eyes, his dark brown loosely curly short hair, and his classic stubble he was too lazy to shave off properly since high school. "You alright, you seemed kinda spooked." He said, his voice was deep and velvet-like. Zach's jaw was dropped. How the fuck did this happen to him of all people.

After snapping out of his slight trance, he sort of stumbled over his words as he rang things up, feeling embarrassed for the first time they got to see each other since school Zach was wearing a crappy white polo and an ugly smock on top of it and he generally wasn't that attractive. Not like he would have really committed to thinking he was anyway since he had some acne scars, mostly on his jaw and temples, though. "I'm fine, man. I uh...I was a little caught off guard. You two seem familiar somehow." He was really trying not to lie to the guy he was close-ish friends with.

Caine was unloading his cart, seeming almost like a second nature to him at this point. He seemed to be thinking, his brows kind of furrowed together. He thought about it and hard, looking at Zach's name tag then shook his head. "Doesn't ring a bell." He said quietly. Zach's heart dropped, hoping Caine would remember him. The younger ones kept begging Caine for some candy, and at this point, the entire store felt stuffy and over full, and Zach was being really slow and he felt like shit. He didn't like how this day was going.
