Tsuna hurriedly ran up the staircase, footsteps rushed and silent. When he reaches his room he gently closes the door. His eyes were wide but impassive. It revealed nothing of the inner turmoil he was feeling inside.

She wouldn't . . .

Tsuna stood there for a moment in silence. Nothing could be heard but his breathing and the gentle snores of the occupant in the other side of the vicinity. He spent his time in that silence gathering his thoughts and straightening his messed up priorities. He couldn't think straight. Not after what he just heard.
His darkening thoughts were cut off abruptly after he heard the yawns and rustling of bed sheets to his left. Tsuna turns around to see his young sibling waking up. Rubbing her eyes to get rid of the sleepy haze.
"Mornin' Onii-chan . . ." Kyoko managed to say through a yawn. Tsuna forces a smile."Good morning, Kyoko." Tsuna smiled and hugged his sister in a welcoming embrace. His eleven year old sister smiles sleepily and hugged him back. "Thank you, onii-chan . . . " she said and looked like she was trying to stifle a yawn. Tsuna forced out an amused chuckle.
A long silence fell upon them afterwards. But the two siblings didn't seem to care. In fact, they seem to enjoy it.
"Ne . . . onii-chan . . . " As the silence broke from the small mutter, Tsuna stares at his sister who was drawing circles on the bed while laying in his chest. A sign of nervousness she hasn't shown in a long time.
"What is it, Kyoko?" Tsuna asks her. His sister paused for a moment before she looked at him with longing. A face she also hasn't shown since their father's leave.
"Can you . . . " she trailed, fidgeting and biting her bottom lip, "c-can you . . . sing for me . . . Tsuna-nii? I-I don't know why . . . But I really want to hear your reassuring voice right now . . . " Kyoko looks up at him with hopeful eyes. To Tsuna it was new and he curses himself for it. Ever since that night he lied to his sister, she stopped believing in promises. Promises that were broken by her Onii-chan.
It made Tsuna think how much of a horrible brother he was. He failed his sister, not once, but twice. And to top it all, she called him Tsuna-nii - a name she only calls him when terribly scared or anxious.
Tsuna forced another smile. "Sure, Kyoko . . . " he said, Tsuna parted his lips and started singing. If he could make his beloved sister happy with his pathetic singing, he would sing until his throat was dry. He could even steal from a bank if Kyoko asked him to. That's just how important she was to him. She was the only sibling he had.
And the fact that she was going to be gone soon . . . it just wasn't fair.
