Later on that night we had finally finished getting our stuff in the house. Then all of a sudden my father cleared his throat catching all of attentions. Once he knew we were all looking him he spoke up. "Kids I know it's a old house me and you mother will be fixing it up soon," he sighed. "Just give it time, ok." He gave a reassuring smile to my brother and I. My mother quickly change the subject, "There is a really nice high school just a couple blocks away from the house." Jacob and I  trying not to pick a fight with our parents nodded and then went back to eating.
Once we finished eating it was mine and Jacobs turn to to clean up, so we collect the dirty dishes from everyone as we head in to the kitchen. I start to fill up the sink with hot water. "Hey Amanda you feeling ok?" Jacob looks at me a little hint of worry in his voice. "You know you can always talk to me about anything."
I looked at him then out the window that was placed about four inches above the sink with a sigh. "Yeah I'm fine," I rest my elbows on the window frame. "I just miss our home, this" I paused "This place is no-....its just not our place to be." I sighed dropping my head down.
I turned off the sink but soon after I felt my brother fling an arm around me in attempt to cheer me up. With a light smile he said "if you ever need anything you know where to find me." After that being said I nod. Then we stood there in silence doing the dishes.
"Now time to clean up the dining room table." I said dried off my hands making my way to the room.
"Yeah I'll meet you in there." Jacob said as he put the clean dishes away before he left grabbing the broom and dust pan. He finally caught up right as I stated with the table.
"Hope I'm not to late." He chuckled as he started sweeping the floor.
I laughed slightly at his attempt cheer me up. "Not at all." I was hoping that would change the mood in the room.
Sooner or later we had finally finished cleaning up we said our good nights to mom and dad. We then headed upstairs he stopped me. "Hey can I talk to you." He asked before I head into my room.
"Yeah what is it." We stood there in the hallway having this conversation.
"After being here a day, what do you think of the place so far." He asked while leaning up against the wall behind him.
"It was alright I I guess," I sighed "it will take a little bit to get use to."
"That's good to here." He laughed a little, "you wanna know what, when me mom and dad moved into our old house I was still getting settled to the place and once I did a few years later you were born I took time to adjust to you being there and now look at us and remember how close we got to the our old house." He puffed out a breath then he smiled. "Just keep that in mind," he threw his arms up heading into his room. "Good night."
"Wow I never would have thought and night." I said as I walked into my room. I heard my brothers door creak shut. I shut mine as well then afterwards I sat on my bed, laying down now I slowly drifted off to sleep
