My hands shook as I walked towards the classroom. I have never felt scared, ever. Rather impossible to, I was an orphan that read all sorts of books that never made me feel nervous.
But, of course, the first day of school gave me anxienty. I was already in middle school, was tutored since I was tiny, but I was younger than the rest in the school by a long shot.
Everyone in my class was supposed to be eleven or twelve. I was eight, turning nine in February. I was smart, that's what my tutors said. The school agreed, letting me go even at this age.
I'm most likely going to skip even more grades, at this point. Depends on what I know right now. That's at least what they said.
On another note, I reached the classroom, peering inside. Only one person was in there, it was the teacher.
"Miss?" I spoke, now standing in the doorway.
The teacher looked up from her looking down position, tilting her head.
"The new student of mine, right? Erin Burr, was it?"
I nodded, shifting in my spot. This was starting to get even more nerve wracking at this point, probably because no one was here.
"Take a seat somewhere, we don't have a seating chart in here. I'm Miss Abigail." She spoke, a smile now on her face. It looked tender.
I nodded, clutching the strap of the backpack on my back, of course. I sat in a seat two seats back from the front, on the very side where the window was on.
I like the rain, and it was raining today, so I was in heaven for a bit. Only thing was, another kid came in.
She seemed to have bobbed, black hair with droopy looking brown eyes. She was dressed in a grey dress that went down to her knees. She looked sad.
"Miss Madison, it's great to see you. Over there is Miss Erin Burr, go say hi, dear."
The girl, Madison from the looks of it, looked over at me. She quietly walked over, sitting next to me.
"Hello, I'm Jamie Madison." She spoke.
"Erin Burr. But, um, if you could, could you spell my name like the male version of Erin? A-A-R-O-N? It's more comfortable for me..." I spoke rather quietly, it seemed.
Jamie tilted her head. "Aaron... It's still a nice name. Ah, if you could, if just talking to me, could you address me as James? I feel more comfortable with that as well."
I smiled. Someone else like me, that's new.
"Of course. Of course."
I was happy with this. It was peaceful, thankfully.
